Raipur: Social Welfare Minister Lata Usendi conducted a review meeting of the departmental works at new circuit house on Tuesday. In the meeting, Usendi asked the officials to organise a special felicitation programme for senior citizens on the occasion of International Day of Older Persons on October 1, 2010. She further directed to distribute artificial limbs and equipments to the disabled persons by organising camps at development block and district level from October 15 to November 15. Expressing her annoyance over the dejected conditions of organisations being operated by the department for disabled, Usendi instructed the officials to rapidly improve the conditions. She was also irked with the delay in filling of vacant posts for disabled welfare organisations and said the smooth functioning of the particular organisations were affected due to inadequate staffers. She said the department had ample fund for disabled welfare organisations and whichever organisation lack resources or need any construction or development work should be done promptly after taking her approval by submitting proposal. She said the pending cases under disabled marriage encouragement scheme should also be completed at the earliest. Reviewing the pension schemes, Usendi was surprised that the department had opened fifty percent less bank accounts for the beneficiaries in Narayanpur and Bilaspur districts. Taking serious note on the negligence of the officials, she ordered that bank accounts of all the pension beneficiaries should be opened.
RMC to allot 152 new shops on lease

The RMC will allot 152 new shops on lease for thirty years. These shops have been constructed in different commercial places of the capital.
The interested persons can submit their applications at the Malviya road-based RMC head office till September 27, 2010. The civic administration would allot all the 152 shops through lottery system on September 28, 2010.
These shops are located at Kankalipara hospital commercial complex, RD Tiwari School premises, municipal complex Kalibadi chowk, commercial complex near Agrasen chowk and Gandhi Maidan kanji house premises.
The shops have been constructed under IDSMD scheme and would be allotted to the applicants from general and reserved categories according to rules. The municipal corporation has also uploaded complete details of the shops in its official website.
According to information, there are total 17 shops in Kankalipara hospital commercial complex of which three are in the ground floor while 14 are in the first floor. Similarly, the RMC has constructed five shops in the first floor of the commercial complex at the RD Tiwari School premises.
In the newly constructed commercial complex near Agrasen chowk, there are total 36 shops of which three have been built in the ground floor, 21 are located in the first floor and 12 are located in the second floor.
In the municipal complex at Kalibadi chowk, there are six new shops. In Telebandha near the statue of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose, the RMC will allot one shop located in the first floor.
Shrivastava inspects development works

The RMC Speaker Sanjay Shrivastava on Tuesday inspected development and sanitation works of Maharshi Valmiki ward along with the local corporator Bindu Maheshwari. Shrivastava also planted saplings in the ward in sales tax colony along with the residents. On the occasion, Shrivastava instructed the zonal officials to quickly construct a drain in the area after he learned from the residents that insanitation prevail in the locality due to improper drainage system.
Street vendors to be rehabilitated soon

The street vendors will soon be rehabilitated to specific places under vendor policy so that they could respectfully operate their business. The rehab works will commence from zone 8 and all the street vendors of the capital would be rehabilitated gradually in phased manner. I this regard, the Commissioner of urban Administration and Development Department Sanjay Shukla took a meeting of zone 8 officials on Tuesday. The RMC had also invited street vendors of zone 8 to attend the meeting and to know how they would be rehabilitated.
According to vendor policy, there will be three different sized kiosks that would be allotted to the vendors. The municipal administration will also issue identity cards to the vendors. The rehabilitation will be done under joint supervision of new ward committees headed by the local corporators and zonal officials. Shukla has categorically said that after rehabilitation of the vendors, no illegal construction or encroachment in the public places for commercial purpose by the vendors would be tolerated and stern action would be taken against the guilty ones.
Notably, the RMC Commissioner Om Prakash Choudhary has directed all the zonal officials to complete the formalities pertaining to vendor policy in the given timeframe. The new vendor policy has recently been passed unanimously in the RMC’s last general body meeting.
Professional training

The state government will impart professional training to the youths of naxal affected areas of Bastar division. The minimum eligibility criterion to participate in the training programme is class VIII passed. For this, the government would conduct dense survey to identify the eligible candidates at gram panchayat level. In this regard, the Bastar division Commissioner K Shrivasulu has asked the officials to chalk out a work-plan and produce it by September 25, 2010. The training would be imparted in various job-oriented courses considering establishment of large number of industries in Bastar division in coming years. The training programme will be conducted for short-term.
Application for Bhanjdev award invited till Sept 30

The state government has invited applications from the sportspersons to contend for Maharaja Praveerchand Bhanjdev award 2009-10 till September 30, 2010. The award would be given on the establishment day of Chhattisgarh state on November 1, 2010.
The interested candidates can send their application only through the state-level sports associations.
The officials of Sports and Youth Welfare Department informed that the award would be conferred upon that player who had either won gold, silver or bronze medal in national archery championship (senior category) or in national games or would have represented India in any international-level sports event.
If no player is found meeting the eligibility criteria to win award any year then the government also considers sportspersons who have participated in those games that are considered by the Union Sports Ministry for national level sports awards, the officials informed. Both male and female players can contest for this award, they added.
The applicants should necessarily hold domicile of Chhattisgarh state or must have been working in state’s government / semi-government department or in any public sector undertaking (PSU) during the achievement or award year. The award is calculated from April 1 to March 31.
