76 colonisers get registered with RMC

About 76 colonisers have got registered with the municipal corporation out of which over three quarters are new while the remaining have renewed their registration. Notably, the registration is being renewed in every five years. The Town Planner Sandeep Bagde informed that more than 200 colonisers have been registered according the civic norms. The list of these registered colonisers will be pasted at the office of RMC’s Town & Planning department, office of Joint Director Town & Planning department and Collectorate for convenience of citizens. The civic Commissioner Om Prakash Choudhary informed that the colonies being built in Gogaon, Gondwara, Amlidih, Daldal Sivni, Mova, Lalpur, Hirapur, Jarvay, Kota, Labhandi, Puraina, Fundhar, etc are legal.



GTZ gives tips on drainage system, pond conservation

To find out effective solution to preserve fast disappearing ponds from the city and to improve rainwater drainage system, the municipal corporation on Wednesday organised a workshop in which the German-based consultancy agency GTZ gave necessary inputs about the two subjects through a power point presentation. Later, the representatives of Manhart consultancy agency informed the participants about the two proposed projects.
Notably, the RMC has hired Manhart to prepare the detailed project report (DPR) on pond conservation and stormwater drainage system. While GTZ has been appointed by the Union government as technical consultant for city sanitation plan, Rajeev Awas Yojana, solid waste management and transport arrangement in 66 cities across the country including Raipur that have been selected under Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission (JNNURM). The agency will also prepare comprehensive report on each city after deeply studying each of the factors on which it would give recommendations.
The RMC Commissioner Om Prakash Choudhary, JNNURM Project Monitoring Unit (PMU) expert RN Konher, GTZ representatives Dr Waldhauff, Jose Brooks and civic officials were present on the occasion.


25 encroachments removed

The RMC on Wednesday removed 25 encroachments from MG road, Gurunanak chowk and KK road near Moudhapara mosque. The municipal engaged 3D to remove the encroachments while warned shopkeepers of Durga College complex to voluntarily demolish their illegal shop extensions. Similarly, zone 6 squad imposed Rs 25,000 fine on one Technodrillers near Pachpedi Naka chowk for damaging the water pipeline being laid besides the shop for Priyadarshini Nagar. The shopkeeper was deliberately dumping heavy iron materials and parking trucks over the water pipeline. The municipal also imposed Rs 2000 fine on one Netram Chandrakar, a resident of Ravindranath Tagore Nagar, who had dumped building materials on road obstructing the normal traffic.


RMC to spend Rs 5 cr to renovate city roads

With only 13 days remaining for Rajyotsav 2010, the municipal corporation has suddenly geared up and has decided to improve the road conditions of the capital. About Rs five crore will be spent in road renovation works, informed the civic Commissioner Om Prakash Choudhary on Tuesday.
The builders’ association too has come forward to extend its help to the RMC in this connection and has commenced the landscaping and lighting works at Gaurav Path near irrigation canal at an estimated cost of Rs 15 lakh. Another landscaping and artificial waterfall construction work would be done by the association member near SRP chowk Shankar Nagar at the cost of Rs 25 lakh. Apart from this, the life history of martyr Bhagat Singh would also be inscribed besides his statue.
Another builder has taken the responsibility to develop a garden and carry out plantation works at the embankment of Telebandha Talab facing Gaurav Path. Similarly, one of the association members would carry out development and beautification works from Sarona overbridge to Tatibandh chowk. Two more builders would beautify the road median from Amanaka to RD Tiwari School. The association has further decided to develop the empty land near Sarona water tank into garden.
Notably, Choudhary has taken frequent meeting with the top civic officials to improve the city conditions before beginning of Rajyotsav according to the instruction of Urban Administration and Development Department.
He has also convened meeting of office–bearers of Chhattisgarh Chambers of Commerce and Industries (CCCI) urging all the shopkeepers, businessmen, social welfare organisations and NGOs to help the municipal in imparting beautiful look to the capital’s roads and intersections on the occasion tenth establishment year of the state.
Choudhary has also appealed to the citizens to maintain cleanliness in their ambience and avoid throwing garbage in public places.
The roads shortlisted for the repairing and macadamisation works include road from Sanjay Gandhi chowk to Jhulelal chowk at an estimated cost of Rs 9.51 lakh, from Railway station to Radhakrishna temple near Gudhiyari underbridge – Rs 11.41 lakh, Motibagh chowk to Madhusudan Das chowk (Mahila thana chowk) – Rs 21.42 lakh and at Jail road from Ambedkar hospital chowk to Ganj police station chowk – Rs 1.98 crore.
Similarly, Rs 25.36 lakh will be spent in renovation of bypass road from Ambedkar hospital chowk Khalsa School, Rs 19.97 lakh - from Escorts hospital to Farishta complex, Rs 69.74 lakh – from Kali mandir chowk (near Gass memorial ground) to Vishweshraiya chowk and Rs 17.42 lakh – at GE road in Tatibandh area.


New water pipeline for Christian colony

The municipal corporation commenced laying new water pipeline in Christian colony near Shyam Nagar canal (Civil Lines ward) on Tuesday. The RMC Speaker Sanjay Shrivastava who inaugurated the new pipeline project in the locality hoped that the residents would get rid of the drinking water crisis in the summer. He informed that residents that the RMC would soon complete construction of 17 overhead tanks and new filter pant with 150 million litres per day (MLD) capacity under Water Augmentation Scheme (WAS) that has been launched under Centrally sponsored Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission (JNNURM) at the cost of Rs 303.64 crore.
