Munat pays surprise visit to RMC’s Revenue office

Found only 4 present out of 35 staffers, orders for action against absentees

Raipur, September 10, 2010

The Urban Administration and Development Minister Rajesh Munat paid surprise visit to the RMC’s Revenue office at Netaji Subhash stadium on Friday noon and found that only four out of total 35 staffers were present in the office. Taking serious note on this, Munat directed the municipal’s Additional Commission Taran Prakash Sinha and Deputy Commissioner Krishna Dubey to take disciplinary action against the absentees.
He later took stock of the department’s works, but found information pertaining to various documents incomplete and records not updated. Expressing his annoyance over the lethargic attitude of the department’s staffers, he instructed the senior officials to quickly improve the anarchic condition.
Earlier, entering the Revenue office, Munat started taking information about the works from the staffers present there including Assistant Revenue Inspector Vijay Pathak and three peons. Inquiring about the total strength of employees and their arrival and departure times, Munat also went through the attendance register. When asked, Pathak informed the minister that his job was to recover rent from the municipal shops located in the market places. However, he could not give satisfactory answer when Munat sought total revenue recovered through shop rents in the current financial year.
Infuriated by Pathak’s ignorance, Munat asked the Additional Commissioner and Deputy Commissioner to review the department’s works and functioning. He was also displeased with the records and documents including agreements of tenants that were not updated.
