CBI probe demanded on ration card prints recovery

Congress corporators warn state government of aggressive agitation if action not taken against guilty people

Raipur, November 04, 2010

The RMC’s Congress corporators have demanded CBI inquiry into the recovery of 14,000 rations card prints from a printing press near Sarjubandha Talab in Tikarapara. All these ration card prints belong to the beneficiaries under BPL category. The Congress corporators have warned the state government of aggressive agitation if it would not take prompt action against the guilty people. In this connection, a meeting of Congress corporators held at Congress Bhawan on Thursday.
Notably, the prints of ration cards under Annapurna Anna Yojana were recovered from the press building that was demolished by municipal corporation as its owners Rajkishore and Naval Kishore Agrawal had raised the edifice illegally on the encroached land spawning in about 0.291 hectare.
The Agrawals got work order to printing about 125,000 cover pages of the ration cards from Vikas Kapoor, owner of Urla-based Techno Printer back in 2007-08. Agrawals had already printed 1,10,000 cover pages and dispatched to the Techno Printer. The remaining cover pages were also printed later but were not dispatched because of poor lamination.
The Congress corporators sniff fake ration card scam in this episode as the press owner kept the cover pages safe for more than two years instead of destroying them.
The Techno Printer owner Kapoor frequently gets order from Chhattisgarh Text Book Corporation (CTBC) and Samvad. After the prints of ration cards were recovered from the press of Agrawals, Kapoor informed that he had obtained order from Samvad to print 4, 00,000 ration card covers of which he outsourced the work of about 1,25,000 to Agrawals. But when inquired, neither Kapoor could produce evidence pertaining to Samvad orders nor Agrawals had any documents indicating that they got job order from Techno Printer.
