Deepak Mishra vice president, Jogi contestants dominate in all Lok Sabha working committees

Former Chief Minister Ajit Jogi has once again proved his dominance in state party politics as his contestants virtually turned the battleground of Youth congress (YC) elections 2010 as one-sided show by claiming the key post of state YC president and over three-quarters of seats at Lok sabha level working committees. Jogi’s staunch supporter Uttam Kumar Vasudev, who won the delegate polls from Marwahi (Bilaspur district), emerged as new state YC president securing 496 votes while Deepak Mishra from Korba Parliamentarian Charan Das Mahant camp was elected as vice president who got 225 votes. Another Jogi supporter Vinod Tiwari too got elected as president of Raipur Lok Sabha working committee with 63 votes in his kitty.

Pandri bus stand to bid adieu to anarchy, insanitation

RMC removes 25 encroachments from bus stand premises

Raipur, September 27, 2010

The Pandri bus stand will soon get a facelift and the frequent passengers who are fed up of anarchy and insanitation prevailing in the premises would discover a novel experience boarding buses from there with clean and organised ambience. The RMC Commissioner Om Prakash Choudhary on Monday inspected the bus stand premises and regretted that the passengers had to face inconvenience due to encroachments, haphazard bus and other vehicle parking, damaged road and no basic facilities. To meet capital city norms, Choudhary issued several directives to the officials on the spot. Notably, the documents containing the evidence that the Pandri bus stand belongs to the RMC was recently found by the civic officials.
Accordingly, the municipal will launch massive anti-encroachment and cleanliness campaigns in the bus stand premises. The RMC’s demolition squad commenced the action by first removing about 25 thelas and kiosks from the main road of the premises on Monday in presence of Choudhary who said that the officials should also monitor that the illegal occupants may not encroach the same piece of land after sometime. While, sanitation drive would be monitored by Deputy Commissioner GS Kshatriya.
The municipal will also install water cooler in the premises to provide potable water to the passengers.
The office-bearers of the bus association too have expressed their interest before Choudhary to help the RMC in giving a makeover to the bus stand. Considering this, Choudhary asked the officials to utilise the significant inputs of the bus association. Choudhary further instructed the officials to renovate the closed old booking counter and to restart it.
Taken aback by the haphazard parking of buses and other vehicles in the premises causing frequent traffic jams, Choudhary held discussion with Transport department’s Additional Commissioner BS Maravi and expressed his concerns that if no proactive action would be taken then the premises would become accident-prone zone. Taking serious note on this, Maravi promptly issued necessary guidelines to the officials.
Upset with the redundant parking of old and damaged buses that had become litter bins, Choudhary directed the officials to write a letter to the Regional Transport Officer (RTO) and seek his permission for seizure of such vehicles.
Similarly, the RMC will write letters to the Superintendent of Police and DSP Traffic with request to take action against illegally parked buses in the bus stand premises. The civic administration will write another letter Police administration to open a police help centre at bus stand premises and provide sufficient personnel to maintain law and order in the locality.
The RMC will construct a WBM road near Chhattisgarh City Centre (CCC) and Consumer Forum office after cleaning the area. Choudhary entrusted the responsibility to zone 7 Commissioner Rakesh Naidu for sanitation of the area. He said besides the RMC, the responsibility to maintain sanitation also lies with the CCC and hence its management should be asked to appoint private security guards to ensure that people may not throw garbage and filth in the ambience.
