The decision was taken during a meeting of field officers linked with Saakshar Bharat programme chaired by SLMA Director Niharika Barik Singh at the state office of Rajeev Gandhi Shiksha Mission on Thursday.

Sudarshan has lost his mental balance: Cong

Raipur, November 11, 2010

The state Congress on Thursday demanded an apology from former RSS chief KS Sudarshan for his controversial statements against UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi and warned of agitation if he does not express regret. “Sudarshan’s derogatory remarks are nasty and fictitious and he seems to have lost his mental balance and need quick medical treatment,” said PCC president Dhanendra Sahu, senior party leader Vidya Charan Shukla and others on Thursday. The state Congress Sewadal’s chief organiser Ashok Raj Ahuja has also condemned Sudarshan for his remarks and demanded apology from him.
The Congress enraged after Sudarshan, while interacting with media on November 10 at Bhopal, called Sonia a CIA agent and accused her of plotting assassinations of her husband and former Prime Minister Rajeev Gandhi and her mother-in-law and former PM Indira Gandhi.
“The country is aware about Sonia’s sacrifice as she had refused Prime Minister’s post. The RSS has lost its control due to her increasing popularity and hence Sudarshan has made such objectionable remarks,” the Congress leaders said and added that the former Sangh chief’s statement had exposed the real face of his organisation.
“Sudarshan has always given controversial statements in the past and had attempted to disturb the peace and communal harmony of the nation,” they said.
The Congress leaders alleged that the RSS had not only links with Ajmer and Malegaon bomb blasts, but also with several other similar activities in different parts of the country.
Notably, the war of words between Congress and RSS triggered after the former recently targeted the RSS and alleged that it had terror links during AICC meeting at New Delhi. Protesting the statements of Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi, the RSS had staged day-long dharnas across the country on November 10, 2010.
