Cong to take disciplinary action against unruly leaders

Raipur, October 15, 2010

The District Congress Committee has decided to take stern action against its unruly leaders and workers who give inept statements that sparks off controversy. In this regard, the newly formed five-member disciplinary committee has announced that any statement given in public by the partymen without prior permission of DCC president would be considered indiscipline and the party would take suitable action against such people. The DCC has already shot notice to one of its members on Friday pertaining to his uncalculated statement.
Expressing his concerns over the rising trend of the Congress workers to give statements in public without anticipating their aftereffects, the DCC chief Inderchand Dhariwal convened the meeting of disciplinary committee on Friday. He said the workers should strictly follow the party directives and avoid interacting with the media unless they get permission. He informed that the show cause notice had been served to Nitin Thakur who was talking to the media persons on October 14, 2010 when all the other DCC members along with him had gheraoed Ambedkar hospital superintendent Dr Vivek Choudhary. “We cannot tolerate such reckless habits,” he said.
Notably, the disciplinary committee has been recently constituted to probe into the complaints pertaining to indiscipline. The committee will also submit its comprehensive probe report to the DCC whenever anyone would be found going awry. The members of this committee are – DCC (Urban) vice presidents Ambar Shukla and Madan Lal Taleda, president of state civic bodies cell Santosh Agrawal and DCC (Urban) general secretaries Niranjan Haritwal and Suresh Mishra.

Now, Mayor challenges govt on pretext of RSS

Denies nod to sangh to organise Dussehra programme on Oct 17

Raipur, October 15, 2010

The spat between Mayor Kiranmayi Nayak and the state government does not seems to be ending in near future as the former’s refusal to give Madhav Rao Sapre School ground to Rashtriya Swayamsewak Sangh (RSS) to organise Dussehra programme on October 17, 2010 has triggered a new cold war between Congress and BJP. “Sangh will not get the ground for two reasons – first, it has not taken formal permission from the RMC and second, the Supreme Court (SC) has clearly directed that the sports grounds should be given only for sports activities and not for other programmes,” Nayak said on Friday.
She, however, added that the apex court had relaxed its conditions during summer and winter vacations of students. “Following the SC guidelines, we had earlier permitted The Art of Living foundation to organise programme at Sapre School ground last summer,” she said.
When pointed that the sangh had sent a letter to Commissioner Om Prakash Choudhary and a copy to her October 14 seeking permission for the ground and has now indicated clearly that the programme venue would not be changed, Nayak said the municipal corporation would not hesitate in taking action against the RSS if it would forcefully attempt to occupy the ground for its programme rejecting SC directives.
She further said that the RSS had not sought permission from the RMC in its letter, but had indeed demanded to clean the ground before its programme and provision of water tankers for the people who would gather.
When asked if the government would ask the RMC to provide Sapre School ground to the RSS, Nayak said, We would term it another attempt of the BJP-led state government to interfere into RMC matters as it is being led by Congress.”
Asked if the RMC sticks to SC orders why Netaji Subhash stadium was given to BJP on September 4, 2010 to organise programme to welcome party’s national president Nitin Gadkari during his maiden Raipur visit, Nayak said the permission was given in her absence as she had gone for pilgrimage. “If I would have been present at that time, I would have clearly refused to give the stadium to the BJP as my prime objective would be been to obey the SC directives,” she added.
Notably, Nayak had welcomed sangh’s panth sanchalan (route march) in the beginning of this year during RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat’s visit to the capital, but some of the Congress workers had objected over her overtures and had complained to the party bosses against her. Some even demanded Nayak’s expulsion from the party.
However, the PCC closed the chapter after strictly warning her when she later clarified that she had no proximity with the RSS and she welcomed the panth sanchalan as a first lady of the city and not as a Congress member.
Now, with RSS sending letter of intimation to the RMC to organise Dussehra programme in Sapre School ground, Nayak do not want to give advantage to her opponents and had not only posed a tough face against the sangh but has also challenged the government on pretext of SC orders.
According to schedule, the RSS will first conduct shastra puja followed by boudhiki at 6:45 am on October 17. Then, the path sanchalan will commence from Sapre School ground proceed across the city via Shyam talkies triangle, Saddani chowk, Nayapara, Phool chowk, Lalta chowk, Badhaipara, Ramsagar Para, Jawahar Nagar, MG road, Jaistambh chowk and Kotwali chowk before retuning to the same ground.
