Cabinet decides to extend mandi polls by 12 months


Recommends Ramesh Chandra Sharma as fourth member of PSC

The mandi elections that were proposed to be conducted in January and February 2011 have been extended by twelve months. The decision was taken during Cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Raman Singh at Mantralaya on Monday.
The government had already commenced the preparations of the mandi polls as the delimitation works were on verge of completion. However, considering the period of two months (November and December) insufficient to prepare voters’ list prior to mandi polls in January and February 2011, the Cabinet minister unanimously decided to extend the date of the elections by 12 months.
In another significant decision, the Cabinet recommended the name of retired IPS Ramesh Chandra Sharma as foruth member of the Chhattisgarh Public Service Commission (PSC). Presently, the other members of the commission are Chairman BL Thakur and three members Durgasharan Chandra, Pradeep Kumar Deshpande and Itwari Ram Khunte.
The Cabinet further approved a proposal to establish separate district planning boards for naxal-affected Bijapur and Narayanpur in Bastar division under the schedule of Chhattisgarh District Planning Committee Bill (Amended) 2010. Both the boards will have ten members each.
On proposed waiver of stamp duty to acquire land for Kamal Vihar project, the Cabinet accepted the requests the Revenue department to defer the decision till next meeting so that the latter could make necessary changes in the proposal. According to information, the stamp duty on RDA’s ambitious Kamal Vihar project would be about Rs 2.5 lakh per acre.
The other decisions include Rs 20 crore state block guarantee for nationalised corporations without exchange fee impose by the Finance department on Chhattisgarh State Antyavsayi Finance and Development Corporation in the financial year 2010-11 and the benefit of agriculture credit to farmers at three percent interest by cooperative banks was extended for this fiscal.
Similarly, the Cabinet nodded on special appointment of Hemant Kumar Diwan in assistant grade-3 post. Hemant’s father AR Diwan was posted as under secretary at Mantralaya but he took retirement after paralysis attack.



Tribal Advisory Council meeting today

The meeting of Tribal Advisory Council (TAC) would be held at Mantralaya at 5 pm on Tuesday. The meeting will be chaired by Chief Minister Raman Singh. Several significant decisions pertaining to the special communities of tribals are likely to be taken in this meeting.  Besides the CM, the meeting with be attended by tribal ministers and legislators. Notably, TAC is responsible to take key decisions on tribal areas. Among the important issues, the council would prominently discuss over the reports prepared on administrations of tribal areas for the fiscals 2008-09 and 2009-10. After discussion, the members will recommend these reports that would be sent by Governor to the President of India.


BJP ST Morcha’s 3-day meeting begins today

The 3-day meeting and training programme of BJP ST Morcha’s national executive will begin in the state capital from Tuesday. Chief Minister Raman Singh will inaugurate the programme at 11 am in Agrasen Dham (VIP road). The meeting will be chaired by Morcha’s national president Faggansingh Kulaste who arrive Raipur on Monday. The meeting will be attended by party national secretary (Organisation) Ramlal, national training chief Alok Kumar, senior party leader and advisor Vinay Sahasrabuddhe, BJP national vice president Karuna Shukla, general secretary Narendra Tomar, BJP state president Ramsewak Paikra, party’s  Morcha’s national office-bearers, executive members and MPs, MLAs and ministers from different states.


Sahu felicitated

The RMC felicitated its peon Chhedilal Sahu who got retired on Monday after completing 46 years of his service in the municipal’s Press and Public Relations department. The RMC’s public relation officer Milind Kher and press manager Sumangal Upadhyay presented shawl, shreephal and memento to Sahu for his long service to the municipal corporation. On the occasion the department’s staffers Ajay Parmale, Ajay Verma and others were also present.


Flood-affected people get compensation

The municipal’s Speaker Sanjay Shrivastava distributed compensation amount to 60 flood-affected people on Monday. These people are residents of slum colonies located at New Shanti Nagar and Ishwari Nagar and had to incur property loss during monsoon season this year.
