UPA unconcerned about price rise: BJP

Raipur, December 22, 2010

The BJP national secretary and Durg Parliamentarian Saroj Pandey has held the Union government completely responsible for the crisis and high prices in onion market. She said the UPA failed to curb inflation due to its wrong policies. Now the prices of onion are skyrocketing because of the misplaced priorities and mismanagement by the UPA government, she said.
Pandey said instead of taking any measure to check the price rise, the Prime Minister looked helpless and the ‘orator’ Union Agriculture Minister Sharad Pawar perplexed. The much touted Aam Aadmi of the UPA is already reeling under the galloping food prices but neither the UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi nor the AICC general secretary Rahul Gandhi have expressed their concern about it, she said.
Repeated shortage of essential commodities is adding to the woes of the common people and shortage of pulses, wheat, sugar and now onions are malicious and with the connivance of the government with hoarders, she said.  This shows that the government is indifferent to the sufferings of the common people, she added.
“Where is the Congress party’s promise of taking care of Aam Aadmi?   Already onion has reached Rs 80 per kilogram. Is this a Christmas and New Year gift of the Congress party to the common man?” she asked.
She further said that the UPA government should step down as it had failed to control the prices of essential commodities.
“The Congress is not concerned about the Aam Aadmi but it is scared of BJP. After its debacle in Bihar Assembly elections in spite of massive campaigning done by Rahul Gandhi, the Congress is worried about the BJP’s increasing mandate.  Hence, the sole aim of the Congress plenary was to criticise BJP,” she said.
