Now, truancy not possible for sanitary supervisors

Get new handsets from RMC, cleaning staffers get photo ID cards

Raipur, October 04, 2010

Truancy at work has always been a matter of concern for the civic authorities, especially on sanitation issue over which the corporators as well as the citizens flood the municipal head office with their complaints in connection to the abject sanitary conditions of their localities because of habitually truant supervisors and cleaning staffers. To check dissemination of truancy trend among the sincere workers, the RMC decided to dole out handsets to the sanitary supervisors so that they could remain in contact with the civic officials during working hours.
On experimental basis, Mayor Kiranmayi Nayak distributed cell phones to the supervisors of zone 4 on Monday at Shaheed Smarak Bhawan. Besides, on the occasion, the civic administration issued photo identity cards (photo ID cards) to the cleaning workers.
The supervisors have been clearly instructed not to switch off their cell phones and promptly inform the respective zonal commissioner in case of any problem or requirement.
The handsets and photo ID cards have been distributed under municipal’s ‘mission clean’ campaign and soon it would be launched in other zones of the capital.
“The role played by the sanitary supervisors and workers is very important and they should discharge their responsibility to keep the city clean and beautiful,” said Nayak by adding that the distribution of handsets to supervisors was RMC’s ‘recognising gesture’. “We will also dole out dress and jackets to the cleaning staffers in next couple of days,” she added indicating that more facilities for the workers are in the offing.
When the cleaning workers put some of their problems before the Mayor, she assured them that each of their grievances would be redressed.
