The BJP government has succeeded in checking migration from Chhattisgarh in the past six years by framing policies, schemes and projects to benefit the financially weaker section of the society. The initiative taken by the Chief Minister Raman Singh to provide rice to the poor at the rate of Rs 2 per kg has been admired by the entire nation and even the Centre has announced to adopt Chhattisgarh’s PDS model. This reflects good governance and sincere efforts to benefit the poor. The words of encomiums were showered by BJP national supremo Nitin Gadkari while he was addressing a large rally of party workers at Netaji Subhash stadium on Saturday.
“The government opened its doors for the industrial sector to invest in Chhattisgarh with an objective to create ample job opportunities for the unemployed youths. Besides, the state also witnessed a marked improvement in other sectors including education, health and agriculture. The surge in state’s development betokens the BJP’s commitment towards people,” said Gadkari.
He said the UPA government, on the other hand, lacked feeling for the poor. “The Centre’s callousness unleashed when the Union Agriculture Minister Sharad Pawar, in spite of Supreme Court’s clear directives for the second time to distribute food grains worth over Rs 58,000 crore left to rot outside FCI godowns, refused and proclaimed to sell food grains at minimal rates,” Gadkari added.
He also lamented Congress for exporting sugar at low rate of Rs 12 per kg and then importing at inordinately high rate of Rs 30-35 per kg. “The sole intention of Congress is to exploit people and therefore, over 10 lakh farmers have committed suicide, unemployment has become major problem across the nation and prices of essential commodities have surged,” he said.
Naththa resembles Indian poor
Appreciating Bollywood’s actor, producer and director Aamir Khan for producing ‘Peepli Live’ – a movie surrounding a villager’s life and his miseries, Gadkari said, “I liked the character Naththa who resembles Indian poor.” Indicating towards the rising mall culture, Gadkari said, “It is an irony that where some people do not hesitate in squandering money in shopping malls, there are many who could not even afford to live a respectable like a human due to small income.”
BJP is workers’ party
“The BJP is a workers’ party and no dynasty or family rule it like Congress. Our party is not a private property of any one leader, but it belongs to every worker,” Gadkari said. “The elected representatives will one day become former MLAs and MPs, but the workers will remain workers and never be ex-workers. Thus, it is the hard work of workers that make the party strong,” he added. He appealed to the workers to remain dedicated to the party and consolidate it following the footprints of BJP’s former leaders like Kushabhau Thakre.
Naxalism and terrorism are major threats to the nation
“Naxalism and terrorism are the major threats to the country and we would have to eradicate it with joint efforts. The naxals have developed red carpet area from Tirupati to Pashupatinath (Nepal), but their agitation has benefited none. There is no place of violence in democracy. The naxals must shun it or be prepared to face the consequences,” Gadkari clarified.
He further criticised the Centre for framing weak counterterrorism policies. “Whenever Pakistan waged war against India, it experienced severe defeat. Still, the Pakistani infiltrators are continuously spreading their terror links in the country. The incident of attack terrorist attack on Parliament is a glaring example. Afzal Guru was caught in this connection, but has still not been hanged because the Union Home Minister has mounted pressure on the Chief Minister of Delhi to avoid signing on the orders related to Guru’s hanging process,” Gadkari said.
Training his guns towards Union Home Minister P Chidambaram for his controversial ‘saffron terrorism’ remark, Gadkari said, “It is shame that Chidambaram relates terrorism with colour. Saffron is deeply connected with Hindus and is symbol of renunciation, integrity and culture. The pious saffron colour flag has been used even by Lord Krishna and Lord Ram in their chariots.”
He rather advised Chidambaram to check infiltration from all corners of the country. “The terrorists are coming from Pakistan and China while naxalites are pouring in India from Nepal. Is the Centre taking any measure to check the inflow of these terrorists?”
Undeterred by naxals, Chhattisgarh became model state: Raman
Raipur, September 04, 2010
Chhattisgarh has emerged as model state in the country in spite of naxal terror. The peace loving people of the state do not want violence and hence the naxals cannot bully them by their guns and RDX. The BJP, on the other hand, is committed to eradicate naxals and continue development works in the state to explore new zeniths of success at national and international forum. The assertion was made by Chief Minister Raman Singh while addressing massive BJP workers’ rally at Netaji Subhash stadium on Saturday.
“Our mantra is progress and we are sticking to it. The Congress has ruled this part of the country for about 60 years but has done little for the people of Chhattisgarh while BJP in its six years of power in the state has brought sea-change in terms of development,” Singh said.
He pointed that the Congress had distributed about 75,000 pump connections to the farmers in 60 years while the BJP distributed 1.60 lakh connections in only six years. “Similarly, Chhattisgarh produces 20 percent of the country’s total steel, 15 percent of the country’s total cement and 28 percent of the nation’s total aluminum. Besides, the state would start generating nearly 30,000 MW power. Our hard work can also be gauged with our GDP which is 11.49 percent and is highest in the country, even above the most developed states like Gujarat,” he added.
He further pointed out that the per capita income of Chhattisgarh had shot up from Rs 10,600 per annum to Rs 38,000 annually. “Even the per capital income has increased in the state at the rate of 9 percent every year which is double the national average,” he said.
Hailing party workers arrived from different parts of the state, Singh said, “We had invited 20,000 workers and the registration counter outside the stadium has gone past 26,000. Appealing the workers to be prepared for the next Assembly and general elections, Singh said the upcoming by-polls in Bhatgaon and Sanjari-Balod were equally important and the BJP must post victory in both the seats again.
Cong palm not with poor, but to throttle them: Gadkari
Raipur, September 04, 2010
The palm of Congress is not with the poor as it claims, but is to strangulate them and the glaring example is horribly low income of more than fifty percent of the country’s population which is not even sufficient for them to arrange essential factors of subsistence like food, clothes and shelter. The strictures against the Congress came from BJP’s national president Nitin Gadkari while he was addressing the massive gathering of party workers at Netaji Subhash stadium on Saturday.
“In past 63 years, the Congress changed three signs – ox, cow & calf and palm, but what it failed to change is poverty for which it merely launched eradication campaign throughout the nation without working on it at ground level,” Gadkari said.
He asked from the Congress to disclose the reason for debilitating financial conditions of the poor and bulging pockets of its leaders. Terming the Congress-led UPA government at Centre responsible for rising inflation and people’s woes, Gadkari said, “Our objective is to win Assembly elections for the third consecutive time in Chhattisgarh in 2013 and general election in 2014.” He appealed to the workers to increase the party’s vote bank by at least ten percent and to win about 70 out of 90 seats in the next Vidhan Sabha elections and all the 11 Lok Sabha seats during general elections. “Our party’s resolution is to make India as the most developed and strongest nation in the global arena,” he said.
On BJP’s anti-Muslim and anti-dalit image, Gadkari said, “It is the ploy of Congress to sully our party’s image. The BJP is not anti-Muslim, but of course, it is anti-terrorist. Contrarily, the Congress simply wants to retain its Muslim vote bank by posing to be with them and without doing anything for them. Otherwise, why a majority of Muslims could not progress and remained confined to the profiles like mechanic, truck driver, cleaner and works of similar sort?”
