The ongoing project of All India Institute of medical Sciences (AIIMS) at Tatibandh Raipur will complete on its scheduled time. The information was given by Union minister for Health and Family Welfare Ghulam Nabi Azad on Tuesday.
Azad’s information came in the form of a written reply to a question raised by Chhattisgarh Parliamentarian Gopal Vyas in Rajya Sabha. Vyas sought information about the progress of AIIMS project in his three-pronged question that comprised of - whether the work regarding setting up of AIIMS in Chhattisgarh has started, whether the target to finish the work by 2012 remains the same as was set earlier and the details of efforts made in this regard.
Azad informed that the civil work for package I, i.e. medical college of the AIIMS-like institution at Raipur has started on May 30, 2010 and is scheduled to be completed in 15 months. Similarly, regarding package II, i.e. hospital for the institution, work has started in mid-September, 2010 and is scheduled to be completed in 24 months.
The construction of the residential complex at the site has already been completed and project consultant for each site has been selected for expeditious execution of work, he added.
In order to supervise and coordinate the construction activities, a project cell for each site has been set up and each of the projects is also being closely monitored by a Project Monitoring Unit in the ministry, he said.
Moreover, in order to expedite the work and to avoid delay, strong incentive and disincentive clauses have been incorporated in the tender conditions for construction of the medical college and hospital Complexes, he said.
Notably, the 960-bedded AIIMS at Raipur is being constructed at an estimated cost of Rs 329 crore under the Pradhan Mantri Swasthya Suraksha Yojana (PMSSY). The AIIMS Raipur will provide healthcare facilities in 39 specialty or super-specialty disciplines. In the first phase, the medical college including the hostel will be completed at the cost of Rs 123 crore while in the second phase the super specialty hospital complex will be completed at the cost of Rs 206 crore. The AIIMS Raipur will also have its own nursing college as well. For AIIMS project, the state government has provided the 200 acre land of the Tatibandh-based District Hospital that has now been shifted to Pandri. Of the total area, the AIIMS hospital would be set up in 40 acres.
With completion of AIIMS project, it will become the largest government-run medical institution in the state. Presently, Ambedkar hospital is the largest hospital of the state.
New roles allocated to YC members

State Youth Congress (YC) on Tuesday allocated new roles to the office-bearers of the YC Parliament Raipur, In this regard, the state YC general secretary and Raipur incharge Saket Shukla convened a meeting organisation’s members in Congress Bhawan at 12 pm and issued necessary guidelines to them.
In the meeting, it was decided that members of Lok Sabha working committees and presidents of Vidhan Sabha areas would tour any two villages of Abhanpur legislative Assembly area for two days. The tour will begin from November 18, 2010.
During this period, these YC members would interact with the villagers and learn about their problems besides obtaining information pertaining to basic facilities including road, water and electricity and education.
They would also take stock of the Centrally-sponsored schemes being run in the rural pockets and seek information from the villagers about Mahatama Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (NREGA), Rajiv Gandhi Vidyut Yojana, Pradhan Mantri gram Sadak Yojana and schemes related to pensioners, old age people, disabled and handicapped and minority community.
Shukla has also urged all the presidents of Lok Sabha and Vidhan Sabha areas as well as master trainers to attend the YC’s state-level five-day workshop – Yuva Drishti 2010 to be held from November 21-25, 2010 at Raipur.
According to the new job responsibilities allocated to the members of office-bearers of the YC Parliament Raipur are – Vinod Tiwari – incharge media and Finance, Sandeep Kataria – membership and Raipur South legislative Assembly area, Amit Sharma – Finance and Raipur North legislative Assembly area, Panna Adil – Media, Raipur Rural, Baloda Bazar and Dharsiva legislative Assembly areas, Anwar Khan – office incharge and Bhatapara legislative Assembly area, Pankaj Mishra – Raipur West legislative Assembly area and Makhan Tamrakar – election preparation, training and Arang and Abhanpur legislative Assembly areas.

To protest the removal of statue of Rani Durgawati from the airport road, the Youth Congress (YC) Parliament Raipur will stage a day-long dharna near Sports Complex Budha Talab on Wednesday. The decision was taken in a meeting of the organisation held at Congress Bhawan on Tuesday noon. “The YC condemns the removal of Rani Durgawati who had sacrificed her life for the country. This is not only an insult to Gondwana community but to all the communities,” said the YC Parliament Raipur Vinod Tiwari. The meeting was attended by all the office-bearers of the organisation.
Government procures over 10 lakh MT paddy

The government had procured 10.83 lakh MT paddy from 1587 procurement centres under 1333 primary cooperative societies of the state by far under minimum support price (MSP) in the current Kharif season 2010-11. The government has procured 214891 MT common paddy and 8.68 lakh MT grade-A paddy of the total procured paddy. The procurement began from November 1, 2010 and it would continue till January 31, 2011. However, paddy purchase would be continued through linking from only those farmers with balance loan to adjust their loan amount by February 15, 2010.
The officials of Food and Civic Supplies Department informed that the highest amount of paddy has been procured from Raipur district, i.e. 272773 MT through 276 cooperative committees followed by Mahasamund that has purchased 247134 MT paddy.
Similarly, the amounts of paddy purchased in other districts are – Durg – 232102 MT, Dhamtari – 155208 MT, Rajnandgaon – 130708 MT, Raigarh – 19309 MT, Bilaspur – 12380 MT, Kabeerdham – 6733, Kanker – 2777 MT, Korba – 779 MT, Sarguja – 720 MT, Janjgir-Champa – 647 MT, Jagdalpur – 1486 MT, Koria (Baikunthpur) – 78 MT, Jashpur – 69 MT and Dantewada – 11 MT.
Cong demands dissolution of MP government

The District Congress Committee (DCC) has strongly condemned the attempted attack on the Madhya Pradesh Congress headquarters at Bhopal on Monday and has demanded from the Centre to immediately dissolve the BJP-led MP government. The DCC alleged that the goons attacked the Congress office on the directions of RSS but instead of taking action against them, the state and police administrations watched the entire incident as silent spectator. The DCC also demanded quick arrest of goons involved in attack. Notably, about hundreds of activists had attempted to attack the MP Congress headquarters after the war of words broke between Congress and RSS in wake of controversial statement of former RSS chief KS Sudarshan on Congress president Sonia Gandhi.
