Students to get answer sheets after exams

From next academic session

Proposal made during the principals’ meet at RSU

Raipur, December 08, 2010

The students studying in the colleges affiliated to Pt Ravishankar Shukla University (RSU) will get answer sheets on demand after completion of their annual examinations. The students would have to pay a specific fee amount to receive answer sheets. A proposal in this regard was put forward during the principals’ meeting that was convened by RSU vice-chancellor Professor SK Pandey on Wednesday.
“The proposal of ‘on demand answer sheet’ was made to maintain transparency in the evaluation system. Usually the controversies trigger off after the results when students start grumbling that they got less marks and blame the varsity for wrong evaluation. If doubtful students would get the answer sheets, they and their parents could confirm whether evaluation was fair or not,” said varsity Registrar KK Chandrakar after attending the meeting that commenced at 3:30 pm and continued for over two hours.
The proposal is also seen as image building exercise by the RSU administration.
The vice-chancellor further asked the principals to inform the students of their colleges to properly fill their examination forms as the varsity would be adopting an OMR (Optical mark Recognition) format from this academic session. The OMR format is usually prevalent in different competitions examinations.
“We desire to reduce typographical errors by inducting OMR format from this year. Now, whatever information would be filled by the students in the OMR form, the same would be fed in the computer,” said Chandrakar.
Like previous year, the varsity would publish about two lakh application forms in this academic session.
“We have already started publishing the application forms. In fact, the forms have been dispatched to distant colleges so that the students could get ample time to fill and submit their forms,” informed Chandrakar.
The next installment of forms would be sent on December 10, 2010, he added.
Another issue that was raised in the meeting was seniority list of the teaching staffers. Chandrakar informed that all the principals have been asked to send the list of their teaching staffers on annual basis according to their seniority order so that the eligible ones could get promotions and other perks timely.
Regarding correspondence between the colleges and the varsity administration, Chandrakar and the vice-chancellor suggested that e-mails through internet should be preferably used considering its instant reach and no expenditure factor.
On proposal to organise separate convocation programme for the remaining 666 gold medalists from 1993 to 2009 who could not receive their medals timely, Chandrakar said, “We have asked the principals to contact gold medalist students of their respective colleges who missed the convocation ceremony amid 1993 to 2009. The information to the ex-alumni could be sent through e-mails or via post. Once we will receive about 50-100 applications from the students, we would finalise a date for the separate convocation ceremony for them.”
The remaining list of gold medalists of 16 years (from 1993 to 2009) has been uploaded in the varsity’s official website for convenience of the candidates and the college administrations, he added.
