12 readers promoted as professors in RSU

Twelve readers from Pt Ravishankar Shukla University (RSU) have been promoted to professors. After receiving the final list from University Grant Commission (UGC), the varsity’s Executive Council (EC) announced the names of promoted readers during its meeting on Saturday. The EC had recommended the names of these readers to the UGC under varsity’s Career Advancement Scheme that began on November 2009.

However, the names of three readers from Geology department have not been included in the list of promoted ones because the University Grant Commission (UGC) did not find them eligible. The trio - Dr Ninan Bodhankar, Dr SK Pandey and Dr DP Kuyti, had appeared in the interview for promotion during former Vice Chancellor Prof Laxman Chaturvedi’s tenure.

The EC has also put on hold the deputation of Dr Vibha Singh from her existing college to Academic Staff of College as Director. Although, the Higher Education department had sent a letter to the varsity in this regard but the EC had to stay Singh’s deputation because the Bhilai-based college where she is presently posted has not given its letter of consent to relieve her. The EC has decided to discuss on this issue on its next meeting. However, the council has approved the deputation of Dr Sanjay Deharwal from varsity’s pharmacy department to some other college.

The EC has further approved to release arrears of varsity’s lecturers and assistant librarians who had been promoted to senior pay scale. The council has also decided to released the pending payment of Satna-based Offset Printing Press which had been hired by the varsity to print degrees. However, the council selected one Delhi-based company for data process and result preparation for the year 2010.

The EC further approved 60,963 square feet area in the varsity campus for construction of new building for Chhattisgarh Hindi Granth Academy.

The readers who have been promoted to professors are – Dr Vyas Narayan Dubey, Dr Shail Sharma (both Linguistics department), Dr Amarkant Pandey (Economics), Dr Pramod Kumar Sharma (Sociology), Dr Moina Chakraverthy, Dr Arun Kumar  (both Anthropology), Dr Bhagwant Singh, Dr B Kameshwar Rao (both Philosophy), Dr Vyas Dubey (Statistics), Dr Bashir Hasan (Psychology) and Dr Sarla Sharma and Dr Ansuiya Baghel (both Geography).
