Over 200 people learn rainwater harvesting technique

Raipur, July 03, 2010

Over 200 people of Zone-8 learned about the benefits of rainwater harvesting system during a day-long workshop that held at RMC’s Mahoba Bazar based Zone Commissioner office from 11 am to 5 pm on Saturday. The groundwater expert Virendra Giri Goswami informed people about the technical details and benefits of modern day’s most effective water conservation method - rainwater harvesting system.
Giri said it was high time people should start saving water. Pointing towards the lowering groundwater table in the capital city, Giri said rainwater harvesting system was the only method through which people could restore rainwater.
He informed people how rainwater harvesting could ensure sufficient water availability throughout the year in the houses that have bore wells which usually get dry during summer. Similarly, he said the people who do not have bore well in their houses and face water crisis could get adequate water by constructing recharge pit under the rainwater harvesting system.
Giri said the optimum benefit of the rainwater harvesting system can only be obtained when it would be installed through the experts. If people would prefer any unskilled agency to install the system then they might not only get polluted water but the quality of the system would also be below par, he added.
On the occasion, corporators Sunil Chandrakar (Shaheed Bhagat Singh ward), Renuka Bakshi (Swami Atmanand ward), Narad Kaushal (Sant Kabirdas ward), Bajrang Nishad (Ramkrishna Paramhans ward) and Manish Dhruv (Veer Sawarkar Nagar ward) along with municipal’s Zone-8 officials were also present.
