The RMC will commence the old Ganj Mandi project only after evolving consensus over it. In this connection, the municipal Speaker Sanjay Shrivastava and Commissioner Om Prakash Choudhary held talk with the businessmen of the old Ganj Mandi area at the conference hall of Netaji Subhash Stadium on Monday and assured them that the project would only take practical reality after their consent.
Choudhary also assured that the RMC administration would not demolish the establishments of the 42 businessmen whom it had served notice on June 3, 2010 to vacate the land voluntarily. Choudhary informed that he had already issued a directive in this regard.
Shrivastava said the municipal always aimed to carry out its project transparently and its strategy to develop the Ganj Mandi area according to the state government’s instructions would also be done by giving prior information to the local businessmen. Shrivastava instructed Choudhary to hold comprehensive talks with the local businessmen and inform them how the government and the RMC wish to make the area organised for their convenience.
Choudhary said the project would be commenced in different phases and it would benefit the existing businessmen both financially and business-wise. He said even the cost of the land at old Ganj Mandi area would increase to manifolds after the completion of the project.
Choudhary informed that the project also comprised of construction of a commercial complex and a shopping mall which would be done by both the RMC and Raipur Development Authority’s (RDA).
According to information, 27 acres land would be occupied by the RMC to commence its ambitious project in the old Ganj Mandi area.
Notably, the local businessmen at the area had kept their shops closed on June 4, 2010 in protest of the municipal notices to 42 shopkeepers to vacate the shops in 48 hours. The businessmen had demanded that unless the RMC and RDA rehabilitate them elsewhere and provide them compensation package, they would not vacate their shops.
The businessmen had also sought intervention of PWD Minister Brijmohan Agrawal and Urban Administration and Development Minister Rajesh Munat into this matter.
Earlier, they had held talks with the RDA’s CEO Amit Kataria who had assured them that the project would only commence when the RMC would announce compensation package for them and rehabilitate them in some other place.

Ramsagar Para residents create scene at Nalghar

Alleges RMC apathetic towards water scarcity problem of the ward

vandalise furniture, window glasses

Police file crime against corporator, 25 others

Raipur, June 07, 2010

About 25-30 residents of Ramsagar Para ward led by their corporator Ritesh Tripathi on Monday vandalise the municipal properties including furniture, fans and window glasses at its office at Nalghar holding the relevant officials responsible for not solving the problem of water crisis in their area in spite of their repeated reminders in the past. The residents have cautioned the RMC administration that they would stage dharna and aggressive agitate against the municipal administration if their problem would not be solved.
However, scared and infuriated by the violent behavior of the corporator Tripathi and the ward residents, the RMC administration lodged written complaint against them with the Kotwali police after the incident. The police have filed crime against Tripathi and 25 others under Section 353, 294, 506, 427 of IPC and Section 3 of Defacement of Property Act.
Later, CSP Manisha Thakur reached Nalghar office and recorded the statements of the municipal officials and employees who were present during the incident
Earlier, the Ramsagar Para residents first reached Zone-7 office to meet the officials, but when they did not find any responsible person to listen their problem, they reached Nalghar office where they had heated exchanges with Executive Engineer of Water Works department KK Singh and other staff. They asked Singh why the ward’s water crisis problem had been ignored by the Zone Commissioner and the relevant officials when they had complained about it several times. However, Singh could not give them satisfactory answer and they started vandalising furniture and other items of the office.
Later, corporator Tripathy said that the residents were severely upset with the indifferent attitude of the civic officials who always made false promises, but never take appropriate measures. He informed that the areas like Samta colony, and from Agrasen chowk to Telghani Naka chowk face acute water crisis every summer, but the RMC did not frame any effective strategy to deal such recurring problems.
