Speaker invited to attend Gujarat’s golden jubilee function

The delegation of Gujarat’s Swarna Jayanti Samaroh organising committee, which is on two-day tour to the state, has invited the Assembly Speaker Dharamlal Kaushik to attend the golden jubilee function of Gujarat. In this regard, the delegation led by Gujarat Assembly speaker Ashok Bhatt met Kaushik at his residence on Tuesday.
Welcoming the delegation, Kaushik said Gujarat, Punjab and Haryana belong to the category of developed states while Chhattisgarh was still in development phase. “Chhattisgarh has the potential to grow and the government is making efforts in every sector, especially in power, irrigation and education. Considering the state’s past ten year’s progress report, we can hope that in next 10-15 years, it will become one of the most developed state of the country,” he said.
The Gujarat Speaker informed Kaushik that his state was established 1960 and it had completed its fifty year in 2010. “We will celebrate this year as our state’s golden jubilee year and hence, our delegation is visiting different states to invite ministers and people from Gujarati community to attend the massive function,” he said. “This function will be significant in various terms, especially because it will be the confluence of the water of various rivers across the nation,” he added.
He termed both Chhattisgarh and Gujarat as synonym to each other for their similar objective to work for the poor.
On the occasion PWD Minister Brijmohan Agrawal, Forest Minister Vikram Usendi and Dharsiva legislator Devji Bhai Patel were present. Gujarat’s delegation was comprised of Minister of State for Primary, Middle and Adult Education Jaisingh Patel, Parliamentary Affairs Secretary for Cooperative, Sports and Culture department Ishwar Singh Patel, Lok Sabha member Dr Kirit Singh Solanki, MLA Ramesh Bhai Maheshwari, Atmaram Parmar, Bharat Bhai Barot, Dilip Singh Parmar, Fateh Singh Chouhan, Gulsingh Radhva and president of Zila Panchayat Surat Bharat Bhai Rathore.


Indoor stadium to be ready by June 2010: Mayor

The construction of indoor stadium at Sports Complex, Budhapara will be complete by June 2010. The information was given by the municipal officials when Mayor Kiranmayi Nayak visited the site to inspect the progress work stadium. So far, about Rs 16.50 crore has been spent on this project and presently truss roof and painting works are in progress, the officials informed.
The implementation agency has already completed the construction of boundary wall, nullah and false ceiling works while wooden flooring and air conditioning, electrification in outer and inner parts of the stadium, plumbing sanitary and finishing works are still unfinished, they said.
The indoor stadium with 5000-seat capacity will have the various facilities for sportspersons like volleyball, badminton, lawn tennis and basket ball along with other indoor games.
When Nayak inquired from the officials about the reasons for delay in the construction of the outdoor stadium, they informed that the north, south and west pavilions of stadium had already been completed and about 70% works of east pavilion had finished, but the remaining works could not be done owing to land dispute case pending before the High Court. The estimated cost of the outdoor stadium is about Rs 7.05 crore.
The north and west pavilions have been allotted free-of-cost to the Sports Authority of India (SAI) for ten years and in this regard a Memorandum of understanding (MoU) was done with the authority on October 31, 2009, the officials said.
The capacity of the outdoor stadium is 15,000 and it will have cricket pitches and athletic tracks. The stadium will have 37 rooms, four coach rooms, one kitchen at northern block, two dining rooms, two halls in south and east blocks, 48 bathrooms, 101 urinals and 8 toilets.


No Water crisis from 2011 summer: Mayor

Mayor Kiranmayi Nayak has assured the Raipurians that they would not face water crisis from 2011 summer. While inspecting the under-construction filter plant in the Ravanbhatha with 150 MLD capacity, Nayak informed that Rs 303.64 crore-Water Augmentation Scheme (WAS) would be complete by March 2011 and there would not be any drinking water problem in the city thereafter. By next year, all the 17 water tanks, new filter plant and intekwell would be complete under WAS.


‘New RMC building will be complete on May 2010’

Mayor Kiranmayi Nayak has informed that the new RMC building with high-tech facilities will be complete by May 2010. Nayak inspected the construction site on Tuesday along with MiC members and directed the municipal officials to complete the work in the given time limit. The state government has provided Rs 10.72 crore for the new building to the RMC. The building is being constructed in 55,710 sq ft area.



RMC to complete housing project for poor rapidly: Mayor

The RMC is committed to rapidly complete the housing project for poor under Basic services for the Urban Poor (BSUP) scheme launched by the Centre through Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission (JNNURM). Mayor Kiranmayi Nayak directed the Delhi-based construction agency Hindustan Prefab Limited (HPL) to complete the project within the given timeframe after visiting the construction sites on Tuesday.
Nayak informed that the estimated cost of the project was about Rs 391.45 crore of which the Centre would incur 80 percent (Rs 312.18 crore) while 10 percent (Rs 39.63 crore) each would be incurred by the state government and RMC. The HPL will construct 27,976 houses in different parts of the city besides providing water, drainage and power facilities, she informed. Under the project, the HPL will also provide 36 Mangal Bhawans, 20 primary health centres, 15 primary schools and 15 employment training centres.
Each house will be constructed in 300 sq ft area and at the cost of Rs 1.50 lakh, but the RMC will only take 10-12 percent of the total cost from the eligible beneficiaries, Nayak informed.
Presently, the HPL is constructing 5210 houses under the project in seven locations in Mathpuraina – 1952 houses, Daldal Sivni – 522, Bhathagaon – 832, Tatibandh – 672, Hirapur-Jarvay – 912, Samera – 160 and Samta Colony (Phase II) – 160, she said.
Nayak was accompanied by Mayor-in-Council (MiC) members Asha Israel Joseph, Anamika Sahu, Govind Mishra, Rakesh Dhotre, Anwar Hussein, Deenbandhu Singh Thakur, Amit Das, Prem Birnani, Jaggu Singh Thakur Lekhraj Sonkar, Chandra Behra and Afroz Anjum along with Deputy Commissioner (Planning) Alok Chandravanshi and Executive Engineer Manoj Singh Thakur.


Guest lecture at RSU

Pt Ravishankar Shukla University’s (RSU) History department organised a guest lecture the other day in which the Vidhan Sabha Director Satyendra Tiwari gave detailed information about the functioning of the Assembly to the students. The Assembly’s first sitting held on December 14, 2000 at Rajkumar College and the proceedings commenced after the formal speech of Governor, he said. He further informed about the sitting arrangement of the ruling and opposition parties in the House besides discussing on budget sessions, question hour, zero hour, call attention notices, starred questions, etc. After the lecture, Tiwari answered to the questions of the students pertaining to the Assembly. Later, a group discussion was organised in which the research scholars discussed on politics and significance of Vidhan Sabha. On the occasion, the head of the History department Prof Abha R Paul emphasised the educated youths to make politics as their career. During the lecture, lecturers Dr Rashmi Choubey, Tiharu Ram Baghel and Jeetendra Manker from the department were also present along with PhD, M Phil and MA (History) students.


CM releases posters with de-addiction message

Chief Minister Raman Singh released three posters containing de-addiction messages prepared by Chhattisgarh State Beverage Corporation (CSBC) at Mantralaya on Tuesday. On the occasion, the Commercial Tax Minister and Chairman of the CSBC Amar Agrawal handed over a cheque of Rs 1.20 crore to Singh for Chief Minister Relief Fund (CMRF) as donation amount from the corporation. Earlier, the corporation had donated Rs 30 lakh to the CMRF. The government uses the fund donated in the CMRF to help the needy people of the state. Agrawal informed Singh that the corporation had earned a benefit of Rs 29 crore in the last financial year. On the occasion, the Home Minister Nankiram Kanwar and CSBC’s Managing Director GS Mishra were also present.


Commercial Tax department collects Rs 6227 cr revenue

The Commercial Tax department has achieved 109 percent of its revenue collection target in 2009-10 by recovering Rs 6227.25 crore which is Rs 514.25 crore more from the set target. Commercial Tax Minister and Chairman of the CSBC Amar Agrawal informed about the department’s achievement to the Chief Minister Raman Singh at Mantralaya on Tuesday. Agrawal informed that the sales, excise and registration departments under Commercial Tax have overachieved their given targets by have collected 110.56%, 102% and 112.50% revenues respectively.



Disbursal of tendu leaves collection bonus by Apr 10

Chhattisgarh State Minor Forest Produce Co-operative Federation (CSMFPCF) Managing Director AK Singh has directed the Divisional Forest Officers (DFO) to disburse bonus for tendu leaves collections to the beneficiaries by April 10 before the commencement of Gram Suraj campaign. He said the government has provided the bonus amount to the federation and the disbursal process had been started. Notably, the government will disburse about Rs 65 crore bonuses to over 13 lakh families. Singh also directed officials to review the scholarship and group insurance schemes started by the Forest department and Life Insurance Corporation of India.
