BJP scared of Cong’s Bastar visit: Chhabda

Raipur, February 20, 2012

The PCC spokesperson Mahendra Chhabda on Monday said that the BJP was scared of Congress monitoring committee’s two-day Bastar visit beginning on February 22.
“The BJP apprehends that the Congress monitoring committee will once again expose corruption and scams in Central schemes in Bastar region. Hence, to divert the public attention, the BJP general secretaries Shivratan Sharma and Subhau Kashyap have dubbed the committee’s forthcoming Bastar tour as picnic,” ridiculed Chhabda.
Chhabda said the monitoring panel had already toured Sarguja, Koria, Jashpur, Raigarh, Kawardha, Rajnandgaon, Mahasamund and Dhamtari districts and now hopes to unearth irregularities in Central schemes in Dantewada and Bijapur districts on February 22 and 23.
Terming removal of minister Ramvichar Netam from Panchayat and Rural Development Department as a consequence of Congress monitoring panel’s revelations, Chhabda said the BJP, instead of giving unnecessary statements, should rather show concern for Bastar which lacked medical, educational, road infrastructural and other basic facilities.
He alleged that the BJP government had received over Rs 87000 crore in last eight years but the development was done only in papers and beneficiaries were ministers and their relatives instead of poor people.
“The BJP government is answerable to every corruption case and scam and if it will remain silent then the Congress will expose it through inspections of monitoring panel,” Chhabda said.
