It will be testing time for new Chief Secretary: Cong

Raipur, February 08, 2012

Congress has hoped that new Chief Secretary Sunil Kumar would take appropriate action on complaints regarding irregularities in government departments. Hailing elevation of Kumar as new CS, the PCC’s chief spokesperson Shailesh Nitin Trivedi said it would be testing time for the senior IAS officer in the backdrop of prevalence of corruption in the BJP government.
“The BJP has sold water, forests and lands of the state. In eight years of its regime ‘work culture’ has been replaced by ‘phone and approach’ culture while ‘transfer industry’ is on the rise,” Trivedi remarked.
“From Secretariat official to patwari, none is interested in resolving public grievances. The ministers and BJP leaders discourage government employees by interfering into administrative affairs. Even a seriously ill person, instead of directly going to Ambedkar hospital, first goes to Chief Minister, any other minister or BJP MLA to seek his recommendation for better treatment facilities,” he said.
“The BJP has weaved dense web of corruption in Chhattisgarh and it would really be interesting to see whether the new CS would succeed in cutting this web or not,” he said.
