Cong to pressurise govt for transparent fund allocation

Party public reps say BJP govt biased, not giving funds

Raipur, February 03, 2012

Lashing out at government for ignoring party-ruled civic bodies and panchayats and not providing them sufficient funds for development, the Congress said it would compel the ruling party to maintain transparency in fund allocation. The pressure tactics would be adopted through various modes by the party’s public representatives in civic bodies and panchayats. The decision was taken during the meeting of the public representatives at Congress Bhawan on Friday. In the meeting, the party’s top brasses exhorted the public representatives to intensify their activities for next Assembly and general elections.
The PCC president Nandkumar Patel said the BJP government was adopting step-brotherly attitude towards Congress-ruled regions. “The Congress never believes in such practices. In fact, the Congress-led UPA government at Centre provides adequate funds for development in rural and urban areas of Chhattisgarh,” he said warning the ruling party to stop playing politics in development works.
The CLP leader Ravindra Choubey said the party aimed to win both Vidhan Sabha and Lok Sabha polls in 2013 and 2014 respectively. “The responsibility to achieve the target will be shared by all partymen but the role of public representatives will be significant,” he said.
He urged the public representatives to ensure that the state government implements all the Central programmes including poverty eradication and job oriented schemes sincerely.
Senior party leaders Vidya Charan Shukla, Arvind Netam and Satyanarayan Sharma, etc also addressed the massive gathering.
During meeting, the representatives complained that they face resistance from own corporators and partymen. They said the dissenting workers should be asked to resolve their issues within the party instead of giving controversial statements in public. Some representatives complain that they do not get support from the organisation as the senior leaders rarely visit their areas.
The party’s public representatives who attended the meeting were Raipur Mayor Kiranmayi Nayak, Bilaspur Mayor Vani Rao, Bhilai Mayor Nirmala Yadav, Rajnandgaon Mayor Naresh Dakalia, Speaker of Rajnandgaon Municipal Hafeez Khan, leader of Congress corporators Bhilai Rajesh Sharma, leader of Congress corporators Jagdalpur Yashovardhan Rao, Speaker and leader of Congress corporators Korba Municipal Santosh Rathore and Archana Upadhyay, president of Birgaon Municipal Council Dr Omprakash Dewangan, etc.
The meeting was also attended by party vice president Baijnath Chandrakar, PCC general secretaries and Lok Sabha incharges – Bhupesh Baghel, Arun Vora, Subhash Sharma, Vidhan Mishra, Fulodevi Netam, Ramesh Warlyani, Chandrabhan Barmate, Dr Shiv Kumar Daharia, party’s chief spokesperson Shailesh Nitin Trivedi, Uday Mudliyar, Deepak Dubey, Abdul Hameed Hayat, etc.

Cong to submit documents against govt to Governor

Raipur, February 03, 2012

The Congress will also take the issue of biased fund allocation to the Governor. The PCC president Nandkumar Patel claims that he had received ample evidential documents against Urban Administration Department which deprived the Congress public representatives of civic bodies and panchayats of their constitutional rights. The decision to submit memorandum along with documents in this connection would be taken by the party general secretaries during their meeting to be held on February 6. According to information, the party is likely to meet Governor on third week of February.
