Govt claims of hike in Aanganbadi workers’ stipend false: Cong

Raipur, February 14, 2012

Flaying state government for claiming that it had hiked the stipend of Aanganbadi workers, the Congress on Tuesday advised the ruling BJP to stop misleading people of Chhattisgarh.
“The Congress is not surprised by the government’s lie as it has developed a habit to deceive people in the past eight years. It had never cared about the Aanganbadi workers in the past and would never do in the future too. It is the Congress-led UPA government which has hiked the stipend of the Aanganbadi workers,” said PCC spokesperson Mahendra Chhabda.
“While the Centre has launched 16 special schemes for the impoverished section across the country and is providing funds to every state in this connection, the Chhattisgarh government is publicising that it had ideated all the schemes and now implementing them by incurring the entire cost. As if this lie was not enough, the government has started claiming that it has taken initiative to provide financial succor to the Aanganbadi workers,” said Chhabda.
He informed that it was Centre’s decision to double the stipend of the Aanganbadi workers and the announcement was made by Union Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee during current financial year’s budget session. “When the Centre put the relevant fund in Chhattisgarh’s account, the BJP government grabbed the opportunity and posed that it is well-wisher of Aanganbadi workers,” Chhabda said.
