Congress sniffs corruption in police transfers

Raipur, February 10, 2012

Sniffing corruption in transfers of police personnel and officials to naxal belts, the Congress on Friday demanded from the government to clarify its stand for not sticking to its pre-declared rotation policy in every three years.
“The government had apparently announced that the cops – both jawans and officials would be posted at naxal belts for not more than three years. But in case of Additional Superintendent of Police DS Maravi, the government seemed biased or apathetic. Maravi, who was gravely injured in Devar Palli naxal attack, has been posted in the same location for about ten years, a surprising disclosure made by his wife to the media,” said PCC spokesperson Sushil Anand Shukla.
“Maravi’s wife has overtly alleged that he was not transferred to other locations because he did not had enough money to give bribe. This shows the government’s corrupt and cruel face,” said Shukla.
