Cong for revocation of tenders for bars at airport

Raipur, February 06, 2012

Congress has strongly opposed tenders invited for three bear bars and one liquor shop at Mana-based Swami Vivekanand Airport (SVA) and demanded instant revocation of such decision. In this connection, the Congress members led by DCC Raipur Urban president Inderchand Dhariwal demonstrated before the airport and submitted a memorandum to SAV station director Anil Rai on Monday.
Dhariwal said it was unfortunate that the tenders for bars and liquor shop had been called ignoring the principles of Swami Vivekanand. “Besides, airport being a public place, the opening of bars and liquor shop will only cause inconvenience to women and children,” he added.
“The government has already decided that it would not allot liquor shops in the areas having population less than 2000. But, the tenders for bars and liquor shop contradict its decision,” he said.
The Congmen warned of launching massive protest movement if the tenders for bars and liquor shop would not be cancelled.
At airport, Dhariwal was accompanied by Sheikh Shakeel, Sumit Das, Deepak Jaiswal, Prakash Ramteke, Ramesh Chandra Kumar, Vikas Jain, Virendra Dewangan, etc.
