The Congress has alleged that BJP government’s negligence had resulted in expansion of naxals in state. “The recent naxal incidents apparently indicate that the Maoists have extended their network from northern and southern regions of the state to central region,” said the PCC’s chief spokesperson Shailesh Nitin Trivedi.
“The police intelligence has completely failed. The Centre is providing ample fund to the state government to deal naxals, but still 16 out of 27 districts are reeling under Maoist terror. This proves that the government is non-serious in tackling naxal issue and is more engrossed in corruption and scams,” Trivedi said.
Expressing his concern over naxal presence in peaceful areas, Trivedi said the government was doing nothing to prevent the extremists to enter such places. Pointing towards the naxal incident in Bargarh under Bhandaria police station of newly constituted Balrampur district, he said the Maoists had remerged in the region.
“After taking control of remote areas, the naxals are now moving to urban areas. They have rather come close to the capital city. This situation has occurred because the Chief Minister, Home Minister and the top brass of the police department are not coordinating with each other,” said Trivedi.
