State needs 200 development blocks, 36 districts: Cong

Raipur, February 09, 29012

PCC president Nandkumar Patel on Thursday said that the state requires 200 development blocks and 36 districts for organised development and effective implementation of the schemes. “The government has of course increased the number of districts from 18 to 27 but it should constitute nine more considering geographical and other radical demands of the people. Similarly, the number of development blocks should be increased from 146 to 200,” advocated Patel.
On recent constitution of new districts, Patel said the Chief Minister ignored public emotion during delimitation and naming of the districts. He also rejected claims and objections regarding constitution of new districts, he said.
“Since the ruling BJP has ignored the public while constituting new districts, the public too will oust it from power in next legislative Assembly elections,” he said.
He said Chhattisgarh did not progress as was anticipated after it came into existence. “The state is full of resources but the BJP government is inefficient,” he said.
On reports of corruption in implementation of Central schemes in state, he said the Congress had collected evidences pertaining to irregularities in such schemes. “We will once again invite Union Rural Development Minister Jairam Ramesh to see the level of corruption in Central schemes in Sarguja and other parts of Chhattisgarh,” he said.
