The NSUI members on Wednesday burnt an
effigy of the state government in protest of police action against their fellow
members at Durg.
The NSUI’s Raipur
district vice president Bhavesh Shukla informed that the organisation’s members
were roughed up while they had been to Durg-based Apollo Physiotherapy
College to talk to the
administration regarding its first year student Jayanti Bhaskar who was denied
permission to appear in the examination on grounds of non-submission of double
fee.
“The college administration also used the police force
to oust the NSUI members from the campus. The college administration did not even
spare the NSUI’s state president Devendra Yadav as he too was ill-treated when
he went there to talk to principal,” Shukla charged.
“The college administration went to the extent of
lodging false report of vandalism against Yadav and other NSUI members with the
police,” he added.
Shukla warned the government of launching massive
protest movements against it if it would not ask the college administration to
take back the false report against Yadav and NSUI members and take action
suitable against the college administration.
“The objective of the NSUI is to fight for the causes
of the students but it seems the police and the government are giving support
to the college to prevent our organisation to use its democratic rights,”
Shukla said.
While burning the effigy of the government, Shukla was
accompanied by Akash Sharma, Ashish Dwivedi, Amit Sharma, Manish Sharma,
Ravindra Singh, Vishnu Sharma, Hemant Sharma, Himanshu Agrawal, Parvez Ahmed, Sumit
Sharma, Akash Upadhyay, etc.
