Govt responsible for delay in Bastar rail expansion: Congress

Raipur, February 01, 2012

The Congress has held the ruling BJP responsible for delay in Bastar rail expansion project. “The state government is not providing lands to the Railways for Dalli Rajhara-Rawghat rail track project. Hence, people of Bastar are being devoid of the rail facilities,” said PCC vice president Kawasi Lakhma, general secretary Fulodevi Netam and other Congress members on Wednesday.
They said the Railways acquired 611.75 hectares land in the state after the Union Environment Ministry and the Centre cleared the rail expansion project. “Still, the total of 85.70 hectares land has not been provided by the state government in Raipur, Durg, Kanker, Jagdalpur and Rajnandgaon. In this regard, the Railways has written letter to the state government several times but no initiative has been taken,” said the Congress leaders.
They asked the government to complete the acquisition process of remaining land quickly and present the updated report to the Union Railway Minister who is scheduled to visit Chhattisgarh on February 10.
