Congress has hailed Centre’s approval for construction of 63000 houses for forest rights holders of the state under Indira Awas
Yojna (IAY). PCC president Nandkumar Patel received a letter pertaining to
Central nod from Union Rural Development Minister Jairam Ramesh on Tuesday.
Notably, the Union government had earlier sanctioned
fund for 37466 houses under IAY for 2011-12 but the fund for 63000 houses under
the scheme for forest rights dwellers would reach state as an additional grant.
The Congress spokesperson Sushil Anand Shukla informed
that the demand of houses for forest dwellers was first made by Patel and CLP
leader Ravindra Choubey to state unit incharge BK Hariprasada during party workers’
meeting at Jagdalpur, Dantewada, Kondagaon and Kanker.
Patel and Choubey also hailed Ramesh’s decision to
create 363
new posts for District Rural Development Authorities (DRDAs) in new districts.
The duo said that the local youth would not only get job opportunities in DRDA,
but their presence would also ensure strict monitoring of different schemes run
by the Centre for development of rural pockets.
Shukla informed that the Centre
is providing funds to the state for rural developmental schemes including
MNREGA, PMGSY, Rajiv Gandhi Shiksha Mission, Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan, mid-day
meal programme, Rashtriya Gramin Swasthya Mission, Indira Awas Yojna, rural
drinking water scheme, National Urban Renewal Scheme, Rajiv Gandhi Rural
Electrification Scheme, integrated child development services, complete
literacy programme, national agriculture development programme, etc.
