Industrial pollution: YC submits memo to environ board

Raipur, February 10, 2012

Expressing concern over increasing industrial pollution in the ambience of Raipur city, the members of Raipur Rural Youth Congress (YC) led by their president Ashish Dubey submitted a memorandum with their 12-point demand to Chhattisgarh Environment Conservation Board (CECB) at its regional office in Hirapur on Friday.
Dubey said the industries continue to flout environment norms with no action being taken against them. “The areas like Birgaon, Bhanpuri, Urla, Sarora, Ravabhatha and Urkura come under highly polluted zones. The locals are compelled to drink polluted water as the contaminated industrial water mixes with it. Fly ash is being transported in open trucks and dumped at roadsides inviting mishaps. Similarly, the binding wire factories use wood instead of furnace oil. Interestingly, the CECB officials do not take any action against the polluting industries which is major point of concern,” said Dubey.
The YC members demanded action against Indseal Energy and Electro Chemical Urla, NS Ispat, Kundargadi Ispat, Ishwar Paper Mill Sarora, Porbal Chemical, Astha Doors, Chourasia Wires, Kanha Steel Urkura, Aero Agro and Kunger Agrico Bhanpuri, Mohini Chemical, United Pesticides Ravabhatha, etc.
The YC warned of agitating aggressively before the polluting industrial units if its demands would be ignored. Dubey said the YC would also gherao those board officials who would be found having nexus with the industrialists.
While submitting memorandum, Dubey was accompanied by Dr Preet Sahu, Ubaran Das, Dharendra Sahu, Sandeep Yadu, Baisakhu Sagar, Takeshwar Verma, Mohan Banjare, Ritesh Mishra, Manish Jha, Dhruv Singh, Domar Sahu, Mohammad Shahrukh, etc.
