Ward-wise sanitary contract will give better result: Mayor
Raipur, April 08, 2010
Mayor Kiranmayi Nayak hopes that ward-wise sanitary contract will give better result. “Earlier, the sanitary contract of the entire city was given to one agency owing to which it was very difficult the maintain cleanliness on daily basis. Considering this, the new Mayor-in-Council (MiC) felt that the contract should be given ward-wise for better implementation and monitoring of sanitary works,” Nayak said after opening the tenders of sanitary contracts in presence of contracting agencies in Pt Ravishankar Shukla hall at RMC head office on Thursday.
Nayak said her team had maintained transparency in their works and expected that then sanitary contractors would also conduct cleanliness works with honesty.
She informed that according the municipal’s new sanitation policy, an agency would not get the sanitary contract of more than two or three wards. “This will develop healthy competition between the contractors and they will make efforts to outperform each other,” she said.
Nayak cautioned the sanitary contractors that the RMC would not tolerate non-performing agencies and immediate action would be taken against them who would violate the municipal norms.
She informed that the municipal had distributed 326 tender forms for ward-wise sanitation contract of which 266 agencies had applied.
Check water theft cases, Mayor to corporators
RMC to seize suction pumps used to steal water
Raipur, April 08, 2010
The RMC has decided to keep an eye on water theft cases which usually rise during summer. Mayor Kiranmayi Nayak has asked the officials to take stern action against those who steal water using suction pumps. Nayak’s directives came while she was reviewing the works carried out by the municipal in the past three months in presence of Mayor-in-Council (MiC) members, corporators, Zone Commissioners and municipal officials on Thursday.
She further directed officials to send a letter to the Chhattisgarh State Power Holding Company (CSPHCL) to cut power when the municipal water is being supplied to prevent water theft cases.
In the meeting, the Executive Engineer KK Singh informed that the Water Works department would provide 100 power pumps to the 70 wards on which Nayak said one pump each should be distributed every ward while the remaining ones should be given to the water scare areas.
When corporators pointed out that the power pump failure or other malfunctioning disrupt the municipal water supply, especially in summer, Nayak directed the Zone Commissioners to ensure that the repairing works should be completed within 24 hours during breakdowns through municipal plumbing crew. She said the repairing works could also be done by hiring private plumbers or agencies in case of unavailability of official crew, but the charges should not exceed Rs 5000.
She asked corporators to make proposal of development works up to Rs 10 lakh for their wards and send it for approval to the RMC Commissioner. Similarly, she informed that the Zone Commissioners would be authorised to conduct repairing and other relevant works up to Rs 20,000 every month, but after the consent of the local corporator.
Engineers upset over salary hiked by CSPHCL
Raipur, April 08, 2010
Chhattisgarh Vidyut Mandal Abhiyanta Sangh (CVMAS) has expressed its displeasure on the revised pay-scale announced by the Chhattisgarh State Power Holding Company Limited (CSPHCL) for the engineers on April 5, 2010. “The CSPHCL is adopting double standards in revising pay-scales and is treating the engineers unfairly which is intolerable,” said CVMAS general secretary PN Singh.
“The CSPHCL’s claim that it is giving 22 percent hike in the salaries of power staffers in its revised pay-scale is completely false because after calculation we learnt that the actual benefit will be only six percent which is about 2.6 percent less than the previous year’s salary hike. The comparative study of the revised pay-scales of the past couple of years indicates that salary hike has constantly reduced and will be zero percent in 2012 and would be minus 20 percent in 2014,” he said.
In this regard the federation had called upon an emergency meeting of all the engineers working in the power companies across the state on April 7 during which it was unanimously decided to reject the revised pay-scale.
The engineers criticised the CSPHCL for taking biased decision while revising their pay-scales. “It is really surprising that the top authorities in the management promptly take credit for record-breaking achievements of the power companies but they completely ignore the hard-work done by the engineers,” they said.
It was decided in the meeting that the federation would organise meetings of engineers at regional levels and would inform them about the CSPHCL’s ploy to deceive them on the name of revised pay-scale. The CVMAS will also meet Chief Minister Raman Singh and will give him a letter demanding his interference in providing appropriate revised-pay-scale to the engineers. In this regard, the federation has called upon a meeting at CSPHCL head office in Dagania on Friday.
In the meeting, the engineers also agreed that since the fund donated by the federation to the tune of Rs 10 lakh to the CSPHCL for specific purpose earlier had not been utilised, the CVMAS would demand from the power company to pay the interest of the particular fund and the total amount would then be given to the Chief Minister relief fund.
The engineers who attended the CVMAS meeting on April 7 were Prafulla Khare, US Upadhyay, Manoj Khare, PK Girdonia, MS Ratnam, Surendra Tiwari, Vinay Pandey, MP Singh, Sunil Nayak, RK Sharma, Anil Vyas, Anil Shrivastava, BL Soni, NK Parmar, OP Singh, CC Anthony, PC Pardhi, PK Agrawal, RV Vishwakarma, etc.
