The sealed government school at Saddu has been reopened as Mayor Kiranmayi Nayak handed over the keys of the school to the principal on Tuesday in presence of tehsildar. The school was sealed by Nayak over a fortnight ago when she learnt that its building was being used to operate a private school.
Nayak said considering the admission time in the schools in the fresh academic session, the district administration freed the school building from encroachment quickly and decided to give the keys of the building to the school authorities.
Earlier, the residents of Saddu had complained Nayak that the Saddu based government school building was being illegally occupied by the general secretary of Bharatiya Janata Yuwa Morcha (BJYM) Khem Kumar Sen who was running his own private school for the past five years.
On May 31, 2010, during her visit to Kushabhau Thakre Ward, the Saddu residents urged Nayak to inspect the government school to see how Sen had encroached it using his political influence.
Nayak reached the school along with local corporator Madhav Prasad Sahu and other municipal officials and found that the complaints pertaining to the illicit commercial use of the school building was true. She promptly sealed the school building and informed about it to the SDM seeking action against the guilty person. The local residents informed that about 200 students were studying in that illegal private school.
On Tuesday, the SDM ordered the tehsildar to reopen the school. The tehsildar informed about this to Nayak and reached the school along with his team.
