The residents of Shankar Nagar, Kalimata and Subhash Chandra wards have demanded from the RMC to provide basic facilities in the cemetery located at Shankar Nagar. They also gheraoed zone commissioner on Tuesday and warned him of staging massive dharna if their demands would not be fulfilled in next 20 days.
The Youth Congress (YC) leader Akash Tiwari, who led the residents in gheraoing the zone commissioner, said the municipal administration and local BJP corporator responsible for abject condition of the cemetery.
The demands of the residents for cemetery are – provision of woods, electricity other radical facilities, provision of watchman or security guards as the cemetery land has become meeting point for anti-social elements, beautification works and demarcation of the cemetery land in wake of rapid encroachment done by builders on it.
Earlier, when the residents did not find the zone commissioner in the zone office, they reached the RMC head office and gheraoed him.
On the occasion, Tiwari was accompanied by Lekhraj Bodhwani, Anil Jain, GK Agrawal, Rajesh Toshniwal, Satendra Singh, Rajkumar Pandey, Pranav Shukla, Yatendra Singh Tomar, etc.
