Devendra Nagar sector-4 residents face water crisis

Raipur, July 23, 2010

The residents of Devendra Nagar sector-4 (Rani Laxmi Bai ward) are facing acute water crisis for the past fifteen days. The residents informed that the water being supplied through municipal taps do not come in full force. In addition, the water supplied is dirty and not potable.
The local resident Pradeep Kumar Jain wrote a letter to Mayor Kiranmayi Nayak in this connection and requested her to quickly solve the problem of water crisis in his area.
Jain and the other residents had repeatedly informed about the problem to the local corporator and president of RMC’s Town Planning and Building Permission department Jaggu Singh Thakur, but his reciprocations were confined to mere assurances.
Jain said the residents timely pay their water and property taxes to the municipal and expect from it to at least make provision of the basic facilities including waters. He urged from Nayak to ensure that the Devendra Nagar sector-4 residents get sufficient water fro their daily use.
Jain said the major reason for less force of water from municipal taps was illegal practice of connecting suction pumps directly to the pipeline. He suggested that water theft cases could be checked if the power supply in the area would be discontinued during periods when water is being supplied.
