Mayor Kiranmayi Nayak has said that Congress would not take any action against dissidents who had cross voted during the election of municipal speaker on January 12, 2010. The Congress had finally lost the speaker’s post to BJP. “You cannot blame any particular individual for the loss. We have to take joint responsibility for this defeat. Although, I know who were involved in cross voting, but I would prefer to forget the past and think about the future,” she said.
Nayak maintained that development works would gain pace in her regime and hoped that she would be able to tackle all the civic problems with the help of Mayor-in-Council (MIC) members and corporators.
To win the support of those corporators who were not picked in the MiC, Nayak said she would constitute a committee of former corporators who would co-ordinate with the new ones for better implementation of works.
When asked whether she discussed about the agenda of General Body Meeting (GBM) to be held in the coming days, Nayak said, “We discussed other issues except the GBM’s agenda which will be discussed in the MiC meeting.”
