Tribute programs

The RMC will observe the death anniversary of martyr Bhagat Singh and birth anniversary of martyr Hemu Kalani on Tuesday. Mayor Kiranmayi Nayak informed that the municipal will organise tribute programs  to garland the statue of Bhagat Singh at SRP Chowk (Shankar Nagar) and statue of Hemu Kalani at Kutchery Chowk (in front of Bal Ashram). Nayak has appealed from the municipal Speaker, all the Mayor-in-Council (MiC) members and the corporators to attend the tribute programs in respect of the martyrs.


Mutton shops to remain close on March 24, 28

Mayor Kiranmayi Nayak has informed that the mutton shops in all the 70 wards would remain close on the occasion of Ramnavmi on March 24 and on Mahavir Jayanti on March 28. She said according to instructions of Urban Administration Ministry the municipal’s sanitation inspectors would keep an eye on mutton shops on March 24 and 28 and would immediately seize the items of those mutton shops which would remain open on the particular dates.

Mayor kick starts anti-larva drive

Mayor Kiranmayi Nayak on Monday kick started the two-month long anti-larva campaign in the city from Kalibadi Isolation Centre. She informed that fogging would be conducted in the city through one big and six small fogging machines. “The big fogging machine will be used everyday in main roads of the capital while the small machines would be engaged in all the wards, especially in the filthy slum areas,” she said.
Nayak informed that the anti-larva campaign was launched according to the resolution passed in the then Mayor-in-Council (MiC) meeting that held on November 6, 2009. “The MiC had then agreed to pay Rs 12,12,650 per month to CDR Associate Devpuri to conduct anti-larva campaign in the city under which there was a provision of Rs 5,98,800 was for fogging, Rs 5,39,700 was for anti-larva and Rs 74,150 was for Rs anti adult,” she said.
Considering the effective implementation of the drive in the past, the new MiC has decided to conduct it for two months, she informed.
Nayak directed the Health Officer Dr Amrit Chopra and the officials of his department to conduct the anti-larva campaign properly and to promptly redress public complaints regarding the drive.
She further asked the officials to continuously review the progress of the drive and to take suggestions from the common mass pertaining to its improvement and better implementation.

License renewal till March 31

RMC commissioner Om Prakash Choudhary on Monday informed that the shop licenses could be renewed till March 31. For convenience of the shopkeepers and businessmen, Choudhary said the license renewal process could be done at any of the zone offices or at health department’s license counter at RMC head office at Malviya Road. The shops that need license renewal are – retail and whole-sale ration shops, big businessmen, hotels and lodges, rice mill, electronic shops, liquor shops, small and big nursing homes, lodge and oil mill, petrol and diesel pumps, medical and research centres, clinics, maternity centres, pathology laboratories, x-ray, angiography and sonography labs, mecial stores, retail and whole-sale foodgrain shops, STD-PCOs, ice-cream parlours, ice factories, flour mill, cold storages, furniture shops, hardware shops, shoe shops, mutton shops, garment shops, retail and whole-sale gold, silver and other jewellery shops, transport shops, steel shops, lubricant shops, traders, plastic pipe shops, etc.


Drain construction

The RMC will construct drains in Kapa and Daldalsivni at the cost of Rs 15 lakh. Mayor Kiranmayi Nayak inaugurated the drain construction works on Monday in presence of local corporators. On the occasion, she directed the officials to complete the construction works within given timeframe maintaining the quality. She also appealed from the local residents, especially women, to monitor the works and promptly inform their corporator on suspecting the quality of the construction. She informed the people of Mova and Daldalsivni that the RMC would ply yellow-coloured water tankers in the two areas during summer to deal water crisis problem. “The people can immediately inform the local corporator and president of Water Works department if they would find any yellow-coloured tanker taking water outside the two areas,” she said.

WAS to rid city from water crisis

Mayor Kiranmayi Nayak on Monday said that that the completion of Water Augmentation Scheme (WAS) would rid the people of Raipur from drinking water crisis while the implementation of Bhagirathi Naljal Yojana (BNY) would bring huge relief to the poor for whom the scheme had been especially launched. She informed that the municipal would constitute Mohalla Vikas Samiti (MVS) through which suggestions would be taken from the people and their complaints would be redressed.
Nayak further said that the RMC was waiting for Vidhan Sabha permission to lay two-kilometer pipe line and to construct a water tank in near it to rid the residents of Mova and Daldalsivni from drinking water crisis.

 
No property tax up to 500 sq ft house: Munat

The government will not take property tax from those people who have houses up to 500 sq ft area. The provision would come into effect from April 1, 2010. The government will further construct sports complexes in all the districts which will contain swimming pools and gymnasiums. The information was given Urban Administration, Housing, Environment and Transport Minister Rajesh Munat while he was replying on the budgetary demands on his departments in Vidhan Sabha on Monday.
Munat said since the people in urban areas were facing problems in getting permission for the lay-outs of their houses, the government has decided to give decision power to the authorised architects and engineers to approve the lay-outs of buildings and houses up to 2000 sq ft area.
Munat informed that with an aim to complete the last rites of the poor respectfully the government would commence Shraddhanjali Yojana under which the deceased’s family would get a financial aid of Rs 1000. The government will also construct a large auditorium in the capital like Bharat Bhawan in Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh), he said.
For recreation of the elderly people, the Siyan Sadans will be constructed where apart from books and magazines, other entertaining items would be available.
Similarly, to control and review pollution in the state, the government would constitute divisional-level Pollution Monitoring Committee (PMC) chaired by the Divisional Commissioner, he said. The government will also computerise all the district transport offices, he said.
Munat said the schemes launched by the government for civic bodies have expedited the development process in those areas.
The government is providing tap connection to about 2.50 lakh poor people to rid them from drinking water crisis under Bhagirathi Naljal Yojana, he said.  The expenditure of Rs 3000 to provide each tap connection has been solely incurred by the state government, he added.

 
‘Govt committed to reduce malnutrition, fatality rates’

The government is committed to bring down malnutrition and fatality rates in the state. Similarly, a number of schemes have been launched to benefit the women and children of the state. The information was given by Women & Child development, Social Welfare and Sport & Youth Welfare Minister Lata Usendi while she was replying during the budgetary demands on her departments in Vidhan Sabha on Monday.
She said the government has made a provision of Rs 297.82 crore to disburse pension to the elderly people. Under this scheme, a person above 65 years will receive Rs 300 as monthly pension while those below 65 will get Rs 200 pe month, she said. Similarly, a provision of Rs five lakh has been made for toll free helplines for the senior citizens, she added.
On deaddiction, Usendi said a campaign was launched in the constituency of Home Minister that was successful and similar drives needed to be commenced in other areas to create awareness among people.
She informed that the government had made a provision of Rs 450 crore for women empowerment. Expressing her satisfaction over the works of Self Help Groups (SHGs), Usendi said there was no need to get the SHGs registered.
On disabled, she informed that 15 government and 28 voluntary schools were being operated across the state and the disabled reservation would be increased to 6% from 3%.
To provide better sports facilities to the villagers, the government is creating sports environment in rural areas through Paika for which a provision of Rs 17.18 crore has been made in the budget 2010-11, she informed. Similarly, Rs two crore would be spent for encouragement of sport persons.


CVSASS to probe into officer slapping issue

Vidhan Sabha Speaker Dharamlal Kaushik on Monday asked Parliamentary Affairs Minister Brijmohan Agrawal to conduct inquiry through Chhattisgarh Vidhansabha Suvidha Avum Samman Samiti (CVSASS) into the alleged reports of slapping by the Law, Panchayat and Rural Development Minister Ramvichar Netam to the Bilaspur district's SDM-cum-Protocol Officer Santosh Dewangan on March 20, 2010.
Earlier, when Agrawal informed the House that the probe would be conducted by the Commissioner-level officer, Leader of the Opposition Ravindra Choubey objected saying that such high-profile matter should be investigated through some committee formed by Vidhan Sabha.
Expressing his concern over entire issue Choubey said, “I have also received a fax in which it has been  mentioned that the Law Minister not only slapped the officer but even pushed him.” He said the government should control ministers in taking such steps.
