To obtain permission from RMC
Raipur, March 12, 2010
Mayor Kiranmayi Nayak has given one week ultimatum to all the illegal marriage palaces including hotels and restaurants which provide their lawns or grounds for marriage purposes to take permission from the RMC. Nayak gave this ultimatum during her meet with the owners of marriage palaces and hotels here on Friday.
Nayak has made it evident to the owner of illegal marriage palaces that she would not allow any such establishment to continue within the RMC periphery.
“We are also planning to categorise the marriage palaces according to their commercial aspect. Among the existing marriage palaces, there are some which are being provided for marriage purposes free-of-cost. Hence, we think that we should take less charge from such marriage palaces,” said Nayak.
On unavailability of parking lots in marriage palaces that usually obstruct city’s normal traffic, Nayak said, “Considering wedding season as peak season for the marriage palace owners, I have suggested them to provide parking space to the visitors by taking rented space in its vicinity,” she said.
“For this they should make a rent agreement with the party from whom they would take parking space and one copy of agreement should be submitted the RMC office,” she added.
“Besides, the marriage palaces should have security guards and upgraded fire fighting arrangements. While to maintain sanitation, the garbage should be thrown in one place that would be collected by garbage collection vehicle,” she further informed.
When asked what about the two malls in the city where traffic congestions frequently occur during holidays, especially on weekends owing to flooding people, Mayor Kiranmayi Nayak said, “We are aware of this problem. Whether the traffic disrupts in the heart of the city or in the outskirts near malls, we are committed to smoothen the traffic flow for which action would be taken against the guilty ones.”
