Major reshuffle in civic bodies shows govt’s frustration: Cong

The major reshuffle in a couple of municipal corporations indicates the state government’s frustration and its failed attempt to discourage the RMC Mayor who had gained huge popularity in the capital in very short span of time due to her dedicated work-style.
The allegation against the government was leveled by the PCC spokesperson Iqbal Ahmed Rizvi, Abdul Hamid Hayat, Uday Mudliyar and other Congress leaders on Thursday after the Urban Administration and Development Department reshuffled the a number of RMC officials to other municipal corporations.
The Congress leaders further charged that the government was solely targeting the Congress-led municipal corporations as majority of experienced officials from such civic bodies were transferred elsewhere. The government’s move will only hamper the development, they said.
Demanding from the government to take back its decision, the Congress leaders said that it should shun partiality and must give equal consideration to all the civic bodies.

Free professional training to educated unemployed

The Government Girls Polytechnic Institute will impart free short-term professional training in different trades to the education unemployed youths under Community Development through Polytechnic scheme. The officials of the institute informed that the training would be imparted in motor binding, house wiring, repairing of refrigerators and air conditioners, colour television repairing, computer operator, etc. The training programme would be organised in the institute premises at Bairon Bazar. To know about the admission formalities and to get detailed information about the training, the interested candidates can contact relevant polytechnic staff from 11 am to 4 pm on all working days at institute’s room number F-19. The candidate should be at least Class Xth passed to participate in the training programme. While, the eligibility for the aspirants of computer operator trade is Class XIIth passed. The officials said the training would help the participants to commence their own business or to join any organisation.


11 shopkeepers fined for hampering road traffic

The RMC and traffic police on Thursday imposed fine on 11 shopkeepers for hampering traffic at Pandri bus stand. The joint team of the municipal and traffic department also fined the norm violating motorists and cautioned them to park their vehicles only in specified parking lots. The team further removed illegal kiosks and street vendors and warned them not to reoccupy the public space in future.
The civic officials informed that the action was taken against the 11 shopkeepers after they received flood of complaints from the small and large business establishments of the area.
Later, the team the vacated the space in front of Lal Ganga Shopping Mall and cautioned the edifice owner to strictly ask the motorists to park their vehicles in the basement. Notably, the traffic near the Lal Ganga Shopping Mall frequently disrupts, especially during peak hours, due to haphazard parking of vehicles in front of the building. The team further seized vehicles parked illegally on road from Shastri Chowk to Sharda Chowk.

Tiwari to take meeting of BJP corporators

The leader of BJP corporators Subhash Tiwari will take a meeting of his party’s corporators in his office at RMC head office at 11 am on Friday. In the meeting, Tiwari will review the development works in the all the 70 wards of the capital.

Show cause notice to IGAU registrar

The civic Commissioner and Census officer for Raipur municipal limits Om Prakash Choudhary on Thursday issued show cause notice to the registrar SR Ratre of Indira Gandhi Agriculture University (IGAU) for being negligent during census works. Choudhary took the disciplinary action against Ratre on instructions of Collector Sanjay Garg who had received complaint against the IGAU registrar. Choudhary also shot notice on a grade-3 assistant posted at Chief Engineer office of Water Supplies Department for being reckless at census duty.


Training on computer, mobile repairing

Chhattisgarh Centre for Entrepreneurship Development (CCED) will impart training to educated unemployed youths on computer and mobile repairing works. The training period for computer and mobile repairing will be one and two months respectively. The interested candidates can obtain application forms from CCED’s office based at Ashirwad Bhawan in Bairon Bazar from 11 am to 5 pm on working days. The last date to submit the forms is July 20, 2010. The aim of the training is to enable the unemployed youths to commence their own business and make them self-reliant. During the training programs, the experts will also inform about various business prospects and government schemes to the participants.
