The municipal commissioner Om Prakash Choudhary has informed that the sanitations works in wards would be carried out only through RMC’s registered contractors.
The interested contractors can register their agency’s name with the municipal’s Public Works department, he said.
For C-class contractors, the registration fee will be Rs 750 besides an FDR (fixed deposit receipt) of Rs 10,000 for five years and an FDR of Rs 2000 as a compulsory security deposit.
Similarly, for B-class contractors, the registration fee will be Rs 1500, FDR of Rs 25,000 for five years and an FDR of Rs 4000 as a compulsory security deposit.
For A-1 and A-2 contractors, the registration fee will be Rs 4500, but the FDR for five years will be Rs 50,000 and Rs one lakh respectively while the compulsory security deposit will be Rs 10,000 and Rs 34,000 respectively in the form of FDR.
For A-3, A-4 and A-5 contractors, the registration fee will be Rs 7500, FDR for five years will be Rs 3 lakh, Rs 5 lakh and Rs 10 lakh respectively and the compulsory security deposit will be Rs 60,000, Rs 1 lakh and Rs 2 lakh respectively.
The detailed information about the RMC’s terms and conditions pertaining to sanitation works are available in the municipal’s Public Works department, informed Choudhary.
Mayor condoles demise of 71 devotees in UP

Mayor Kiranmayi Nayak has expressed her grief over the loss of 71 lives in the ashram of Kripalu Maharaj in Kunda town of Pratapgarh district (Uttar Pradesh) on Thursday. Nayak hoped that the 400 injured devotees in during the stampede would get well soon. Nayak said the unfortunate incident had shattered the entire country. Notably, about 25,000 devotees of Kripalu Maharaj had assembled at the unfortunate venue to have a feast which could only be accessed by a narrow lane. While the devotees queued to take blessings from Kripalu Maharaj and to have Prasad in the bhandara, one of the gates of ashram collapsed suddenly and trapped some people beneath it and consequently the devotees went berserk and the mishap occurred.
12-day eye camp to begin from March 8

The Health department will organise 12-day eye lens transplantation camp in Raipur Medical and Ayurvedic colleges from March 8, 2010. Collector Sanjay Garg has asked the RMC administration to provide basic facilities like drinking water, meals and stay arrangements, control room for overall management apart from ensuring proper sanitation in both the camp spots.
The RMC’s Health Officer Dr Amrit Chopra will be the nodal officer for the eye camp while Choice Centre officer in-charge Dr Bhagyalaxmi Rao will be the coordinator for the diagnosis camp, informed municipal commissioner Om Prakash Choudhary.
He further informed free eye check-up camp would be organised in wards from March 5. Choudhary has requested from the corporators to help RMC in making eye camps successful. He has also appealed from the people to take benefit of both ward-level eye check-up camp and eye lens transplantation camp.
On March 5, the eye check-up camp will be organised in Pt Sakharam Dubey School, Vivekanand Ashram (Thakur Pyarelal Singh ward), Aushdhayala Polyclinic, Purani Basti (Mahant Laxminarayan Das ward) and community buildings at Mathpara and Mathpuraina (Mahamaya Mandir ward).
On March 6, the eye camp will be organised in Aanganbadi centre, Kushalpur (Pt Vaman Rao Lakhe ward0, community building near Sai temple in Gandhinagar (Comrade Sudheer Mukherjee ward), Aanganbadi centre (Pt Sundarlal Sharma ward), Aanganbadi centre at Bazar chowk in Changorabhatha (Dr Khoobchand Baghel ward), panchayat building at Raipura (Pt Madhavrao Sapre ward), Umesh Padhye School, Dagania (Pt Deendayal Upadhyay ward) and community building at Bazar chowk in Sarona (Sant Ravidas ward).
No water supply in several places today

The municipal’s water supply in Bairon Bazar, Devendra Nagar, Sanjay Nagar and Idgah Bhatha will remain disrupted on Saturday owing to shut down by the power companies for maintenance work in the substations of the respective places. The municipal commissioner Om Prakash Choudhary informed that owing to shut down, the overhead tanks would not be filled from 10 am to 5 pm and consequently the water supply in the afternoon and evening hours would remain disrupted. On March 7, the residents of these areas will start getting municipal water from morning onwards, he informed.
Drinking water problem in Gandhinagar

The RMC Speaker Sanjay Shrivastava has asked the municipal officials to solve the drinking water problem of Gandhi Nagar (Kalimata ward) in one week. Shrivastava inspected Gandhinagar on Friday and learnt from the local residents that they were suffering from the problem of drinking water crisis for the past two years, but the RMC had not taken any initiative in that direction. Irked by the attitude of municipal officials, Shrivastava promptly directed Water Works department’s Executive Engineer KK Singh to ensure adequate water supply in the area by laying pipelines and through interconnection within seven days. On the occasion, Shrivastava also instructed Zone 3 commissioner Subhash Chandrakar to ensure that the people of Kalimata ward may not complain about water problem owing to faulty pumps. He also asked Chandrakar to launch a sanitation drive in the ward to collect garbage haphazardly thrown in the public places. During his inspection, Shrivastava was accompanied by local corporator Nandavari Sahu.
5 defaulters pay their tax with penalty

Five major defaulters of RMC’s Zone 6 have paid their property tax along with penalty. The municipal commissioner Om Prakash Choudhary informed that the resident of Ravindranath Tagore ward Amitesh Shukla paid the outstanding amount Rs 38,956 to the municipal, Lalit Kumar Tiwari and Susheelchand Dhaner paid Rs 25,714 and Rs 15000 respectively (both from Sadar Bazar ward) and Swami Vivekanand ward residents Sandeep Dave and Samidha Dave paid Rs 20,711 and Rs 40,583 respectively. The municipal commissioner has categorically directed all the zone commissioners, Revenue commissioner and officials to attach properties of top ten major defaulters of their respective zones in case of nonpayment.
