Will also ensure proper drainage at Ring Road no 1 before rainy season
Raipur, February 17, 2010
The Public Works Department will construct an under-bridge at Santoshi Nagar Chowk and ensure that people residing on either sides of the Ring Road No 1 may not face inconvenience owing to ongoing fourlane project and clogging of water, especially during rainy season. The assurance came from PWD’s Principal Secretary MK Raut to the Mayor Kiranmayi Nayak when the latter sought the department’s initiative to avoid public inconvenience at Ring Road No 1.
Nayak informed Raut that the fourlane project has completely disrupted the normal traffic flow and the drainage system from Tatibandh to Telebandha. She said some of the slum colonies near the road were more likely to get affected owing to the project as flood-like situation could prevail in such locations in the rainy season.
She said even the implementation agency which had got the contract of fourlane project had completely ignored the problems of the local residents. The height of the fourlane has raised by about 4-8 feet owing to which the nearby colonies will become flood-prone zones.
Raut assured Nayak that the nullah cross at Tatibandh and Sarona will be opened and a new drain would be constructed at Deen Dayal Upadhyay Nagar for proper drainage.
Similarly, the nullah crossing from Raipura Chowk to Bhatagaon would also be opened and the mud piling on the either sides of the road in the locality would be levelled up to the height of road.
