Dhanendra complains against Viplove to AICC’s Central Election Authority
Raipur, Aug 10, 2010
Amid reports of irregularities in state’s organisational elections, Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) president Dhanendra Sahu has complained against Chief Returning Officer (CRO) Viplove Thakur to the party’s Central Election Authority (CEA). According to information, Sahu has submitted a comprehensive report on irregularities to the CEA Chairman Oscar Fernandes.
Sources informed that Sahu has questioned the role played by Thakur in the backdrop of irregularities in the poll procedures at different levels and issuance of the lists. Expressing his annoyance on Thakur’s attitude, Sahu has mentioned in the report that the CRO never took him into confidence before issuing the lists of different levels of candidates. He has raised his objections over selection of only few female representatives and said at least 33 percent women should have been given opportunity. He also pointed out towards the total selection process that does not have caste balance. He said the representatives of specific caste were much more than other castes that would create dissent among the party workers.
Taking serious note on Sahu’s report, Fernandes summoned Thakur and has taken stock of the poll procedures besides discussing with her about the issued lists. Sources said that the CEA can change the names of the candidates of disputed places.
The other PCC leaders, too, are infuriated with the irregularities. Former Chief Minister Ajit Jogi wants revocation of all the lists and preparation of fresh ones. Senior party leader Vidya Charan Shukla thinks the mistakes can be corrected. However, all these leaders want complete transparency in the poll process for which they are likely to meet AICC president Sonia Gandhi in next couple of days.
