For absence of sanitary staff from work
Raipur, Febuary 09, 2010
RMC on Tuesday imposed fine on one of its sanitation contractors after finding a number of its sanitary staff missing from the work. The RMC officials informed that the implementation agency – Navjyoti Mahila Swasahayata Samuh (NMSS) was supposed to maintain sanitation of 28 main roads of the city, but its staffers had been reportedly absenting from the duty on regular basis.
The president of RMC’s Food, Public Health and Sanitation department Govind Mishra conducted surprise inspection of the roads near Kalibadi hospital where NMSS sanitary staffers were engaged. Mishra reached the spot today noon at 1 pm when the attendance of the staff was being taken. He learnt that of the total 71 staff, 26 were absent since morning. While among the 45 present at work, 18 vanished after attendance in the second half.
Further, Mishra was also upset when he saw the sanitation staffers were not following the municipal’s dress code. In the past, the RMC had served several show cause notices to the contractor Geeta Balidolly for adopting indifferent attitude in implementing dress code on her staffers strictly. However, the contractor did not send her reply even once, informed municipal officials.
Taking serious note on contractor’s attitude, Mishra asked the officials to impose fine of Rs 15,000 on her agency and warn her not to violate municipal norms in future.
The RMC had hired NMSS for an year and the latter’s contract would expire March 31, 2010.
